Woman Dies of Electric Shock in Budgam

October 21 Sajad Hameed A woman died of an electric shock in Khansahib area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Sunday morning. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a woman identified as Shafeeqa Bano, a resident of Hokhlitri village in Khan Sahib received an electric shock while repairing an electric heater at her residence on Sunday morning. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared her dead. The Jammu Kashmir Police has taken cognizance of the matter.

ULB Polls- Independents Lead in Ganderbal

18 Year old Boy Drowns to Death in Kupwara

October 20 SHABIR KHAN An 18 year old youth drowned while fishing in a pond at Chandigam area of Lolab in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Shaheen Ahmad Mir (18) son of Abdul Rashid Mir of Chandigam, Lolab along with his friends had gone for fishing when he slipped and drowned in Mir Ser (pond) in the locality. The friends and others tried to evacuate him but he died on spot. A police officer confirmed the death of the youth.

South Kashmir- BJP Report Card from ULB Elections

The Bhartiya Janta party has won 53 of the 132 wards in South Kashmir where polls were held in four phases earlier this month. The unprecedented victory for the right wing party has given it control of at least four of the 20 civic bodies in the four districts of South Kashmir. 4 Militants Killed in North Kashmir

October 19 Four militants have been killed by Indian Army near the Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir's Baramulla district. The Police has not confirmed the incident unless the bodies of the slain militants were recovered, the Army sources confirmed it saying that the encounter took place in the Boniyar forests of Uri sector on Thursday evening. "Four unidentified militants have been killed in this operation. Searches are now going on in the area," the sources said.

Militants Attack Army Vehicle, 7 Troopers Injured

October 19 Militants late night on Thursday ambushed a Casspir vehicle of Indian Army on Pulwama- Lassipora area in South Kashmir's Pulwama district. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that that militants detonated an IED on the the Casspir vehicle of 55 RR of Indian Army as it passed on the Pulwama- Lassipora road through the Trichal Bridge, injuring seven soldiers of Indian Army. The injured Soldiers were rushed to the hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the militant outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) has claimed responsibility for the attack.
