Delhi Court Grants Bail to Kashmiri Businessman in Hawala Case

September 13 Delhi High court bench of Justice S Muralidhar & Vinod Goel on Wednesday granted bail to Zahoor Ahmad Shah (Watali) and directed him to furnish a personal bail bond of Rs 2 lakh rupees with two surety of same amount & submit his passport. Zahoor had  been arrested by NIA last year in August and was lodged in Tihar jail since his arrest. Earlier Photojournalist Kamran Yousuf and a Kulgam youth Javed Ahmad Bhat who were also arrested by the NIA were granted bail by the court earlier this year. Others still under detention after being arrested by NIA include Shabir Shah and Nayeem Khan.

North Kashmir Areas Shut for Third Consecutive Day Against Militant Killings

September 13 Sajad Hameed/ Rayees Shah A Shutdown is being observed on Thursday in Langate, Zaengeer, and Handwara areas of North Kashmir over killing of two local militants on Tuesday. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that Business establishment’s are shut and traffic is off the roads. The mobile internet service and class work in Government Degree College (GDC) and Higher Secondary Schools (HSSs) remained suspended for the second day as a precautionary measure in Handwara in Kupwara. Meanwhile the Sopore town is also observing a shutdown as a gunfight has raged in the area. Shakeel Bakshi arrested in Srinagar

September 13 Prominent Pro Freedom leader and the founder of Islamic Students League, Shakeel Ahmed Bakshi has been taken into detention by Forces in Srinagar. Sources informed The Kashmiriyat that Police raided the house of Bakshi on Tuesday in Bemina and arrested him post which he was lodged at police station in Batamaloo. Shakeel Bakshi was first arrested in 1975 when he participated in a General Strike for 'political rights' in Kashmir. Bakshi who has spent more than 11 years in various jails was also arrested the last year after Zakir Musa issued a statement against Hurriyat leaders. Two Militants Killed in Sopore Gunfight

September 13 Shabir Khan Two Militants have been killed during a gunfight at Teleyan in Sopore area of  North Kashmir's Baramulla District on Thursday. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that the 22 RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and 179 BN CRPF had laid down the Search operation jointly. The Militants present in the area opened fire upon the troopers conducting a search operation in the area, triggering a gunfight. Militants Offer Gun Salute to Slain Colleague in Sopore

September 13 Militants on Wednesday night appeared in Harwan Sopore, the native village of Liyakat Ahmed Lone and fired shots in the air to offer gun salute to their slain collegue. CRPF Man Injured in Jammu Shootout, Arms recovered during searches

September 12 A CRPF man was injured after suspected militants travelling on a truck opened fire on a CRPF naka party in Jajjar Kotli area along the Srinagar-Jammu highway on Wednesday. Soon after the incident, government forces launched a massive cordon and search operation (CASO) in the area. A source said that at unknown persons opened fire at the CRPF party deployed for naka duty on the highway around 8:10 am, leaving a CRPF man injured. September 11 Rayees Shah Unknown persons hurled a grenade on Police Station  in Pattan area of North Kashmir's Baramulla District late evening on Tuesday Sources told The Kashmiriyat that unknown persons hurled a grenade on a Police Station in Pattan area which missed the target and exploded near the gate of the Police station.
