July 24 Massive Stone throwing clashes have Erupted in Batamaloo area of Srinagar on Tuesday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Militants fired upon a party of CRPF near Fire station Headquarters in Batamaloo area injuring two men of CRPF at the spot. One of the injured CRPF men has succumbed to his injuries on the way to the Hospital. Immediately after the attack, the forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area. Scores of youth hit the streets in Batamaloo shouting pro Freedom and threw stones on the troopers. The clashes were going on when this report was filed.

July 24 A total of 338 incidents of ceasefire violation and cross-border firings were reported in Jammu Kashmir during the month of Ramzan, Minister Hansraj Gangaram Ahir said today. At least 14 forces personnel and 11 civilians were killed in the cross-border firing from Pakistan in April and June, he told the Lok Sabha. “During the month of Ramzan – from May 17 to June 16 – altogether 338 incidents of ceasefire violation and cross-border firings were reported in Jammu and Kashmir as against 139 during April 16 to May 16,” Ahir, the minister of state for home, said, replying to a written question. July 24 Three alleged drug peddlers were arrested in Jammu Kashmir’s Poonch district and 44 kilograms of poppy straw was seized from their possession, the police said today. Last evening, a private car was stopped for checking at Pushana village along the Mughal Road and a search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 44 kgs of poppy straw, a police officer said. July 23 The Government Forces on Monday launched a Cordon and Search Operation at Wani Mohallah of  Khudwani area in South Kashmir's Kulgam District. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that vehicles of Government Forces including Police and RR of Indian Army reached the locality on Monday noon and started a search operation in the locality. Pertinently yesterday on Sunday an encounter had raged in the Wani Mohallah area of Kulgam district in which three houses were also razed to the ground and three Militants killed.  

July 22 A teen died in a Srinagar hospital on Sunday a day after being injured in a scuffle between the class mates at Sopore area in North Kashmir. Police said that preliminary investigations reveal that the mishap occurred due to a scuffle between the classmates that led to the tragic killing of the boy identified as Zeeshan Banday of Naseem Bagh Sopore. SSP Sopore Javid Iqbal has told KNS that the boys have been identified and are being questioned.

July 22 127 Militancy related incidents have been reported from Jammu Kashmir during the past two months as per a data compiled by Home Ministry of India starting May 16. The Data reveals that Militancy related incidents had gone up to 80 during the month of Ramadan when Indian Government had declared a unilateral ceasefire from May 16 to June 16 while 47 incidents have been recorded from June 16 to July 16. It further claimed that 14 Militant were and five Government Forces' personnel were killed during the Governor's rule as compared to 24 Militants and 10 troopers during the suspension of operations. Since the imposition of Governor's Rule on June 20, 95 cases of stone throwing have been reported while during the previous one month of ceasefire, 90 incidents were reported. ...

July 21 A group of engineering students from Aryans Group of Colleges, Chandigarh have innovated a Solar Boat for Dal Lake, Srinagar. July 21 An encounter has started between Militants and Government Forces in Tanghdar area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara District.
