June 20 Most Parts of South Kashmir on Tuesday observed a complete shutdown amid restrictions in South Kashmir's Islamabad District on the eve of the martyrdom anniversary of slain Mirwaiz of South Kashmir, Dr. Qazi Nisar Ahmed. The Call for shutdown had been called by the Mirwaiz of South Kashmir Qazi Ahmed Yasir. Despite nocturnal raids at his house, office and the residences of his associates, Mirwaiz Qazi Ahmed Yasir evaded arrest and appeared at historical Jamia Masjid of Islamabad where people had already gathered for a rally called from Jamia Masjid to Dialgam after Zuhr Prayers. June 20 People in many areas of south kashmir took to streets and burst crackers after the news of fall of coalition Government in Jammu Kashmir spread. Crackers were burst in Mattan, Pehroo, Pulwama Township, Bijbehera and Islamabad township after BJP withdrew support from the regional People's Democratic party. "Crackers were burst outside the houses of PDP Workers as many people hit the streets shouting pro Freedom slogans," a local from Krangsoo told The Kashmiriyat.
