The Government on Friday ordered naming "Jhelum Stadium, Janbazpora, Baramulla" as "General Bipin Rawat Stadium". “The Youth Services and Sports Department and Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla shall take immediate necessary steps including amending their records for effecting the change,” reads a government order, a copy of which lies with GNS. “It is further ordered that Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir shall ensure that an appropriate event is organized in connection with naming of the stadium.” (GNS)

Police Inspector Masroor Ahmad Wani, who was hospitalised after being critically shot by militants in October month, has succumbed to his injuries at AIIMS New Delhi. A top Police officer told news agency Kashmir Scroll that Wani has succumbed to his injuries some time ago. The injured police inspector, the officer said, was shifted from Paras Hospital Srinagar to New Delhi in an Air Ambulance on Wednesday. Wani was critically injured after militants fired at him in the Eidgah area of Srinagar in the last week of October this year. Crime against children in Jammu Kashmir saw 35% rise in 2022: NCRB report

Jammu and Kashmir has recorded a hike of 35 percent in crime against children in the last two years, reveals the latest NCRB report. As per the report, a copy of which is available with news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), compared to 606 cases in 2020, 920 cases of crime against children have been registered by police in Jammu and Kashmir in the year 2022. In 2021, JK had recorded 845 cases of crime against children. At national level, a total of 1,62,449 cases of crime against children were registered during 2022, showing an increase of 8.7% over 2021 (1,49,404 cases). As per the report last year, 316 cases have been registered under POCSO by the police in Jammu and Kashmir. A total of 318 victims were reported last year under POCSO in Jammu Kashmir, the report said. ...
