Ban on construction in J-K’s eco-fragile zones Dachigam, Sonmarg and Aru

The Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has identified three eco-fragile zones in Jammu Kashmir, including Dachigam National Park, Thajwas Wildlife Sanctuary, and Overa-Aru Wildlife Sanctuary. According to a report by Daily Excelsior, to oversee these areas, a committee will be formed, consisting of an ecology and environment expert, a representative from a non-governmental organization focused on environmental conservation, and a biodiversity expert. According to the notification, no new commercial hotels or resorts will be allowed within one kilometer of the Protected Area boundary or the extent of the Eco-sensitive Zone, whichever is closer.

A non local labourer was shot dead at Nowpora in the Pulwama district of south Kashmir. An official told The Kashmiriyat that on Monday afternoon unidentified militants fired upon a labourer from Uttar Pradesh in the Nowpora area of Pulwama district in south Kashmir, who was rushed to the hospital. The labourer identified as Mukesh Singh was declares brought dead upon his arrival at the hospital, they said. They said that the Government forces have reached the spot of the attack and are conducting investigation related to the incident.

Unknown gunmen suspected to be militants fired upon a cop near Eidgah area of Central Kashmir's Srinagar district on Sunday. A top police officer told GNS that militants fired upon on inspector, identified as Masood near Eighah. He has been shifted to nearby hospital for treatment. His condition is said to be critical. As per the sources he is posted in DPL at Eidgah. Meanwhile whole area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.(GNS)

Earlier, The Kashmiriyat reported that, Unknown men attacked a mosque in the Lakhanpur area of Kathua district in Jammu Kashmir following which Police have launched an investigation into the incident. In a CCTV footage of the incident, a man can be seen attacking the mosque with stones and damaging it’s windows and doors while recording the entire incident.
