The Jamia Masjid of Srinagar was shut by authorities for the third consecutive Friday, while Police personnel were deployed outside several mosques to prevent protests. Awami Action Committee led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that for the third consecutive Friday no prayers were allowed at central Jama Masjid Srinagar and its chairman was once again placed under house arrest. R R Swain gets additional charge of DG of Jammu Kashmir Police

As Dilbagh Singh attains superannuation to culminate longest tenure as Director General of Police of Jammu kashmir by month end, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, on Friday assigned additional charge of the post to incumbent Special DG J&K RR Swain (IPS). According to the order by MHA, a copy of which lies with GNS, the 1991-AGMUT Cadre, Swain has been asked to take the additional charge of the post from November 1. "With the approval of competent authority, Shri R.R Swain, IPS presently posted as special DG, CID, Jammu Kashmir will also function as in-charge Director General of Police in addition to his existing charge with effect from 1-11-23 and until further orders," the order added.(GNS)

Unknown men attacked a mosque in the Lakhanpur area of Kathua district in Jammu Kashmir following which Police have launched an investigation into the incident. In a CCTV footage of the incident, a man can be seen attacking the mosque with stones and damaging it's windows and doors while recording the entire incident. The unknown person was later joined by another person in the dark of the night while throwing stones at the mosque located in Jamabagh area near Golden gate in Lakhanpur. Former Jammu  Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti was on Thursday re-elected as president of the People’s Democratic Party for a term of three years. One of the party leaders, who was part of the election process said that Mehbooba Mufti was reelected as president at party headquarters in Srinagar. The election process was done through a voice vote, he said. He said that Vice President Abdul Rehman Veeri proposed the name of Mehbooba Mufti as the president, which was seconded by party general Secretary Gh Nabi Lone Hanjura.
