Prayers disallowed at Jamia Masjid of Srinagar, Mirwaiz Umar placed under house arrest: AAC
The Jamia Masjid of Srinagar was shut by authorities for the third consecutive Friday, while Police personnel were deployed outside several mosques to prevent protests.
Awami Action Committee led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that for the third consecutive Friday no prayers were allowed at central Jama Masjid Srinagar and its chairman was once again placed under house arrest.
Scores of Policemen and vehicles were deployed outside the Imambargah in Srinagar's Bemina and the head preacher of the Imambargah Aga Syed Mohammed Hadi Kashmiri was placed under house arrest, a close aide of the Shia cleric told The Kashmiriyat.
