In a bid to keep young teenagers away from drugs, a Kashmir based Non-governmental organization has announced an award of a bicycle for the teenagers below age of 15, who offer five times prayers. Khair e Aam trust based in south Kashmir announced that any teenager below the age of 15 will be awarded a bicycle if they offer Namaz for five times for a period of fourty (40) days. Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, Rameez Ahmed Hydari, a member of the trust said that the competition has been launched for four mosques as of now. Danishwar Hameed  Two persons died while two others were injured  when they slipped and fell into an under construction trench in Chakpora area of south Kashmir' Kulgam. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that one Mohammed Ajmal, a resident of Mohantpora district Malda in west Bengal and Mohd Maqbool Dar of Checkpora died when they fell into a trench on Friday afternoon. "Immediately after the incident the four were rescued by the Police and district admin and shifted to the nearby hospital," said officials. Two among them, who were critically wounded  succumbed at the hospital.

The Estates Department of Jammu Kashmir has issued show-causes notices of eviction to 42 political figures. The department issued these notices on the directions of the Court. These politicians continued to occupy the Government bungalows, even after being directed by the Estates Department to de-occupy them. The Department evicted hundreds of people mostly working journalists from their quarters but failed miserably to evict influential politicians both in Kashmir and Jammu. A 22-year-old youth was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Palpora area of Pulwama on Thursday, officials said. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the youth identified as Junaid Ahmed Mir (22) son of Nazir Ahmed Mir of Palpora Nownagri was found dead in Palpora under suspicious circumstances. Rains lashed parts of Jammu Kashmir on Thursday, with more wet weather expected given the forecast by the meteorological department here. Amidst cloud cover, the night temperature recorded a rise, but the mercury is expected to fall during the daytime. A meteorological department official said that Srinagar and Jammu cities received traces of rainfall, while Qazigund and Gulmarg had 0.4mm and 0.2mm respectively. Army on Wednesday said it arrested two suspected persons with the arms and ammunition in Naina area of Sangam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district. “On specific Intelligence input, a joint operation was launched by #IndianArmy & @JmuKmrPolice on 17 Apr at Naina, Bijbehara in Anantnag. Two suspected individuals have been apprehended along with the recovery of one Weapon, one Hand Grenade and other war-like stores,” Srinagar-based Chinar Corps of the Army posted on X. Suhail Dar A woman died of alleged medical negligence at Maternity and Child Care Hospital in south Kashmir's Anantnag district. The family of the deceased woman, speaking to The Kashmiriyat, said that Naza Akhtar, a resident of Khanabal area in Anantnag, died due to medical negligence at the hospital. The patient had been admitted to the hospital two days ago, as per the family members.
