Apple Farmers Federation  (AFF) Tuesday demanded a Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) by the Government and the imposition of a ban on foreign imports of apples. Led by its President, Zahoor Ahmed Rather, a resident of Kulgam district in south Kashmir, who has fought extensively for the rights of apple farmers in the Kashmir valley, a team of the Federation met LG Manoj Sinha and presented a memorandum. Bhatti, a socio-political activist, was arrested on 01 September after Darakshan Andrabi, who serves as Chairperson of Waqf Board, allegedly registered a complaint against him. Central Kashmir's Srinagar district recorded a maximum temperature of 34.2°C, which is 6.0°C above normal. This is the 2nd highest maximum temperature ever recorded in September since 1891 when the weather observatory was established.
