The Jammu Kashmir Police in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district have detained 11 individuals involved in drug peddling under the Public Safety Act (PSA). In recent years, Kupwara district has witnessed a gradual increase in illegal drug peddling cases. In response, the Police and Army have tightened their grip on drug peddlers and smugglers. Providing details, Kupwara Police said that 11 individuals from various parts of the district have been booked under PSA (NDPS-PIT). The police stated that, due to their persistent and incorrigible involvement in drug trafficking within the district, these individuals were booked under PSA. The Jammu Kashmir Police claimed to have arrested an Overground worker in the Shopian district. As per officials, on Wednesday morning, Joint forces of including CRPF, Police, and Army’s 44 RR during a CASO busted a militant module in Nazneenpora Shopian. During the cordon, a militant associate of the LeT was arrested who was identified as Shabir Ahmed Mir. The Police claimed to have recovered one 40 mm RPG, one RPG grenade and two boosters.

Dengue cases are on the rise in Jammu & Kashmir with 144 cases reported this year so far . The State Surveillance Officer, Dr Harjeet Rai told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that this year, 144 cases of dengue have been reported in J&K. He said dengue cases are projected to surge post-monsoon and advised people to take “preemptive” measures to combat the painful mosquito-borne disease in the absence of any vaccine. At least six residential houses were gutted in a blaze that broke out in Shahabad locality of Sopore town in north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Monday. According to the details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), at least six residential houses were damaged when a massive fire engulfed Shahbad area of Sopore. The fire reportedly broke out due to a short circuit and within no time spread to other houses.
