Suhail Dar A 55-year-old man lost his life in a road accident in Harnag area of south Kashmir's Anantnag district on Saturday. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that on Saturday morning a bus of Radiant Public School Anantnag hit a man riding his bicycle at Harnag Anantnag. The bicycle rider identified as Bashir Ahmed Dar son of Ghulam Mohammed Dar, a resident of Muniwar Anantnag was critically injured and immediately rushed to shifted to GMC Anantnag. Kashmir’s most tallest man dies at 38

A 38-year-old Kashmiri man who was over 7 feet tall has passed away at his native in the Khidwani area of south Kashmir's Kulgam district. Mohammed Iqbal Doonu, aged 38, who was 7 feet 3 inches tall, passed away on the afternoon of August 13. His cousin's brothers who had been taking care of him told The Kashmiriyat that Iqbal passed away after a prolonged illness and was laid to rest at his native in Kulgam. They said, "They had to move his body on a cot to the graveyard as the body was unable to fit into the coffin." Iqbal was suffering from crippling malnutrition, they said and during the last six months, his ailments were free and his body reduced to more weakness. "He was incapable of even making the basic movements," they told The Kashmiriyat.

AIDS on rise as J-K records 6,158 HIV-positive cases this year so far

The cases of HIV AIDS are increasing with each passing year in Jammu & Kashmir as 6,158 patients have tested positive in the union territory till June 2023. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that so far 1,400 HIV-positive patients have died while 3,478 patients are living on Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART). He said 547 patients have left follow-up. He said that 5,060 cases of HIV have been reported at GMC Jammu and among them, 1,228 have died, 503 have left follow-up and 2718 are living on ART. Similarly, in SKIMS Srinagar, the number of patients registered in HIV care is 746 while 148 have died, 32 have left follow-up and 448 are living on ART, he added. Man booked under PSA in Bandipora for anti national activities

A person accused to be a militant associate has been booked under PSA in Bandipora district Identified as Maqsood Ahmad Malik a resident of Chitbanday in Aragam of Bandipora, the accused had been shifted to Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu. Police said that Maqsood was booked under the Public Safety Act for his "constant involvement in Anti National" activities. He has also been accused of being an associate of banned militant outfit Lashkar e Taiba.

NIA conducts raids in Jammu’s Bathindi

The National Investigation Agency on Friday conducted raid at Bathindi Jammu and seized some documents. Reliable sources told the news agency Kashmir Scroll that at around 0530 hr a team of NIA raided the house of one Doctor Parvez Ahmad Naz son of Md Sharif Naz resident of Gandoh, District Doda & presently staying in Peer Bagh Colony, Bathindi, Jammu. It is suspected that the said doctor is using some banned apps in his mobile and is in touch with Pakistan based numbers,he said. They said that the team of NIA took some increment documents along with them from the house of said suspect.
