Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud on Tuesday praised a speech by Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, the first Prime Minister of princely state of Jammu and Kashmir, for its foresightedness in the Supreme Court during Article 370 hearing. The CJI intervened when senior lawyer Kapil Sibal left some portions of Sheikh Abdullah's speech in the constituent assembly unread, during the hearing against abrogation of Article 370 in the Supreme Court today. He himself read the speech and stated that Sheikh Abdullah had a vision in 1951 which the world is talking about today. The Jammu Kashmir Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested one person for giving lift to a young woman and then trying to molest her inside his vehicle in Srinagar. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Wednesday the accused had given lift to a young woman and later tried to molest her, but the girl resisted and he threw her off the car, causing injuries to her. Police said that Uzair Hameed Mir, of Daulatabad Khanyar was arrested for molesting & injuring a girl. "He gave lift to the victim, tried to molest & When girl resisted he threw her from car," they said. The Police said that an FIR in stringent sections registered in Rainawari PS, adding, "the car used in the commision of the crime has also been seized."

A man was arrested on Wednesday by Police in central Kashmir’s Srinagar district for an alleged attempt to kill his son. Srinagar Police said on a messaging platform X, “One Mehmood Ahmad Wani of Sonwar Srinagar arrested for attempting to murder his son.” They further said that the accused had an argument with his son, which led to stabbing. “Victim is in the hospital and stable.
