The Delhi High Court on Monday sought the stand of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on a plea by Kashmiri separatist leader Shabir Ahmad Shah seeking bail in a militancy funding case. A bench of Justices Siddharth Mridul and Anish Dayal issued notice to the NIA on an appeal filed by the accused against a trial court order refusing to grant him bail. Army on Monday said that it foiled an infiltration bid and killed two militants in Poonch district of Jammu. Public Relation Officer (Defence) Jammu told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that two infiltrating militants were engaged by the joint teams of Army and Jammu Kashmir police. "One terrorist fell down immediately, second terrorist tried to run back to Line of Control was engaged and hit. He was seen falling down near LoC," he said adding that operation is in progress—(KNO)

A man stabbed his brother in Gojwara area of Srinagar following which he was hospitalized. A senior police officer told the news agency Kashmir Scroll that a man stabbed his brother over some property dispute in Gojwara Srinagar on Sunday evening. He said that man identified as Bilal Ahmad received injuries in the incident and has been hospitalized. Meanwhile police have taken cognizance.(KS)

In an effort to tackle the growing issue of internet addiction among minors, China’s Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC), has put forth a proposal to restrict internet access for children and teenagers. The proposal aims to create a healthier online environment and instil positive internet habits among the younger population. According to the proposal announced on Wednesday, individuals under the age of 18 will be prohibited from accessing the internet on mobile devices between 10 pm and 6 am daily. Additionally, the CAC plans to implement a tiered system based on age, with varying levels of internet access allowed for different age groups. Children under the age of eight will have a daily internet limit of 40 minutes, while teenagers aged between 16 and 18 will be allowed...

Additional Director General of Police Jammu Zone, Mukesh Singh on Sunday said that two to three groups of militants are still active in Poonch and Rajouri districts and the security forces were tasked to trace and eliminate them. Addressing a press conference here, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Singh said that there are 2-3 active groups with 2-3 members, who are trying to revive militancy but security forces are on job to trace and eliminate all such threats. He said that the exact number of active militants is not clearly available but its quite indicative that they get support from Pakistan and sneak-in to disturb peace and harmony in the region. A teenage boy drowned to death in world famous Dal Lake located in Summer capital Srinagar. They told news agency Kashmir Scroll said that a teenage boy identified as Wahid Fayaz, a resident of Bemina, drowned in Dal Lake while he was having a bath. They said his body was retrieved by locals along with the help of River Police Srinagar from Dal Lake near Ghat no. 16. The body will be handed over to family after medico-legal formalities, they said. Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident. (KS)

Two residential houses and a masjid suffered damage in a fire incident in Gurubazar area of Kanikadal Summer capital Srinagar officials said. They told Kashmir Scroll that two residential houses belonging to Nowshad Hussain Bhat and Muzaffar Hussain Bhat and Fatima-Al-Zehra Masjid were damaged in a fire incident in Gurubazar Kanikadal this afternoon. They said that timely action by firefighters along with the help of police and locals, doused the flames to avoid any further damages, adding that no loss of life or injury was reported to any in the incident. A Mild earthquake was felt across the Kashmir valley on Saturday evening, locals from various areas confirmed to The Kashmiriyat. As per initial reports, the earthquake was felt in various parts of India, Pakistan, Afghanistan with a magnitude of 5.6 on the Richter scale. The epicenter of the quake was Shangla kn Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of Pakistan and was felt around 9:31 P.M. in the region. Earlier an earthquake of magnitude of 4.7 was felt in Jammu Kashmir early on Saturday morning. No major damage has been reported from anywhere, as per the reports received by The Kashmiriyat.

Suhail Dar Renowed trader from the main town of Anantnag in south Kashmir passed away after a brief illness at his residence. Family members speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that Ghulam Rasool Malik breathed his last at his residence in the Sarnal area of Anantnag. Originally a resident of Cheeni Chowk, the deceased was a renowned Manari and hoisery trader at Reshi Bazar, one of the oldest markets of the Anantnag district. Two of his son, Malik Zakir nd Mehraj u Din passed away three months ago and their demise brought great tragedy to the family, they said.
