A soldier ended his life by allegedly hanging himself in a washroom at the old Airfield area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district. Official sources said that a soldier identified as Mahesh Kumar was found dead in the washroom. His colleagues found him hanging with a rope and informed the authorities. The incident occurred at 256 Transit Camp and the deceased was affiliated with 34 Rashtriya Rifles. Police have taken cognizance of the incident and registered a case under relevant sections of law. Suhail Dar Former member of Jamiat Ahli Hadith and senior citizen Anantnag town died after brief illness in the south Kashmir district. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that Abdul Aziz Narchoor (Rehmani) who ran a medical store (Rehmani Medical store) at Janglat Mandi Anantnag died on Sunday morning. The 70-year-old was formerly a member of Jamiat Ahli Hadees Jammu Kashmir and was highly respectable among locals in the south Kashmir town. After a protracted legal battle, the Magray family of Ramban district visited the grave of their slain son Amir Magray in north Kashmir’s Kupwara and offered special prayers. Magray was among four people killed in Hyderpora on the outskirts of Srinagar on 15 November  2021. Police had claimed that they were militants and buried their bodies in a graveyard in Kupwara. His father Mohammad Latief said the family feels relieved after offering prayers at the grave of their son. A compensation of Rs 5 lakh, handed over to the family from the Jammu and Kashmir administration, was termed by Lateif as washing away the “blot of terrorism” on his head. Danishwar Hameed An unidentified dead body was found lying in the Hassanpora area of Bijbehara in south Kashmir. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that on Monday afternoon locals spotted a dead body lying in the Hassanpora area, after which they informed the Police. An army soldier allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service riffle in north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Monday officials said. They told news agency Kashmir Scroll that one soldier (name withheld) who was posted at Baramulla's Rastriya Rifle camp near Guru Nanak High School, commited suicide by shooting himself with his service riffle inside the unit. They said the reason behind the suicide was not known immediately as a police party had rushed to the spot to ascertain the details. (KS)

Eight persons including 4 non-local militants and 3 infiltrators were killed in July this month in Jammu and Kashmir. In the first seven months of the current year, 46 people have been killed in militancy-related incidents. Meer Irfan Armed with knives, unknown persons entered a residential house in the Imam Sahib area of Shopian and decamped with gold and other valuable possessions. Speaking to The Kashmiriyat Shaheena wife of Nisar Ahmed, a resident of Arakhera Imam Sahib said that on Monday morning a person followed Shaheena when she was returning to her home. "The person followed me to the stairs and then asked me to handover my golden earrings. I initially refused doing so. But then he got out a knife and also asked me to handover the ring in my fingers," Shaheena said. The person also decamped with cash of rupees three thousand rupees approximately and threatened Shaheena to keep mum. A team of local police station has reached the spot and are investigating the matter.

The Border Security Force on Monday said that a Pakistani intruder was shot dead by its alert troops along the International Border in Jammu division today. A spokesperson of BSF told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that its troops gunned down the intruder when he ignored the repeated warnings and tried to flee after managing to cross the border fence near Jabowal border outpost in Arnia sector of Jammu district at around 1.45 AM today.
