Freezing temperature showed no signs of reprieve as Srinagar endured its coldest night of the winter so far with temperatures plummeting to minus 3.4°C on Monday. A meteorological department official, as per news agency GNS, said that the minimum temperature in Srinagar, the summer capital of J&K, was 2.5°C below the normal for this time of the year and surpassed previous lowest of minus 2.2°C this season which was recorded on two consecutive Sundays respectively. A grid station in Hiller area of Qazigund in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district was partially damaged in a fire incident on Monday morning. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the fire broke out in the grid station, located close to Pir Panchal Tunnel, today morning. A Kashmiri shawl vendor died in a road accident in Bengaluru area of state of Karnataka on Sunday. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that one Ali Mohammad Wani aged (45), who was a resident of Seer e Hamdan in south Kashmir's Anantnag district was hit by a vehicle in Bangalore Karnataka, when he was coming out of a train station, resulting in critical injuries to him. Ali Mohammed, a shawl seller by profession was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. At least four residential houses were damaged in a fire incident in the Patlipora locality of Chattabal in the Srinagar district on Sunday morning. News agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reported that four residential houses were partially damaged after a fire broke out in the Patlipora area this morning. They said fire tenders along with local police doused off the flames in time to avoid further damage.
