River Jhelum has been turned into a waste dump at several places in Bandipora with people dumping huge piles of waste on the embankments or throwing it into the river. Breast cancer: DAK seeks mammography facilities at primary health centers

With rise in breast cancer cases in Kashmir, the Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) on Friday has sought mammography facilities at the valley’s primary health centers for early detection of breast cancer cases. “Having regular mammograms can lower the risk of dying from breast cancer,” said DAK President Dr Nisar ul Hassan. Dr Hassan said a mammogram is an X-ray of the breast. It is the best way to detect breast cancer early before there are signs and symptoms of the disease. “Breast cancer is the most common cancer among Kashmiri women and women should be screened annually after they turn 40,” he said. “Those who are at high risk for breast cancer, such as women with a family history of breast cancer or genetic risk factors for the disease should start screening before age 40,”...

The High Court of J-K and Ladakh on Saturday ordered the reopening of the infamous “Nadimarg massacre case” in which 24 Kashmiri Pandits were killed on March 23, 2003. Several Ganderbal villages face drinking water crisis as work stops on filtration plant

13-year-old minor girl allegedly abducted, raped by 21-year-old youth in Srinagar

A minor girl aged 13 was allegedly raped after being abducted by a 21-year-old youth in the Srinagar district of central Kashmir. An official told The Kashmiriyat that a 13-year-old girl was kidnapped by a 21-year-old youth in Srinagar's Nishat area after which the accused raped her while holding her captive.
