House, cowshed gutted in fire incident in Bandipora

A residential house and cowshed in its vicinity was gutted in a fire incident in Sheikhmuqaam village of Aloosa Bandipora last night, officials said on Monday. They said a single-storey residential house, belonging to one Javad Ahmad Gojer son of Late Khaleel ullah, was gutted along with household good in the fire incident. Also, one cowshed and a Tinshed belonging to his neighbor Mohammad Shafi son of Late Taj Mohammad was also damaged in the fire, the cause of which was not immediately known. Confirming it, an official of the Fire and Emergency department told GNS that timely response by Fire Services Station headquartered in Bandipora saved surrounding property worth of crores of rupees. Weather department here on Monday forecast mainly dry weather over Jammu and Kashmir in next 24 hours. A meteorological department official here told GNS that “mainly dry weather to isolated very light rain” is expected in the subsequent two days. Regarding the minimum temperature, he said, Srinagar recorded a low of 12.6°C against 12.4°C on the previous night. The temperature was 0.7°C above normal for the summer capital during this time of the year, he said. Qazigund recorded a low of 9.8°C against 11.2°C on the previous night. Man burnt alive as truck catches fire in Kathua

A man was charred to death after a truck he was travelling in caught fire on the Jammu-Pathankot national highway in Kathua district here, police said on Monday. The victim, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, was the truck driver's helper, and they were travelling towards Jammu when the vehicle suddenly engulfed into flames late on Sunday, they said. The driver jumped out of the burning truck and rescued himself, but his helper failed to come out of the vehicle, they said. A fire tender reached the spot and controlled the fire, but it was too late to save the man, they said, adding a detailed investigation in being conducted.–(PTI)

The Road from Mandujan to Adijan in south Kashmir's Shopian district is in a dilapidated condition, causing inconvenience to commuters traveling on the stretch. A Local speaking to The Kashmiriyat said, "In absence of repairs, potholes have developed on a large stretch of the road making it difficult to travel on the road." He said that the road has countless potholes, making the purpose of the road a failure.
