A police spokesperson told The Kashmiriyat , that a video was uploaded on the social media where a man is allegedly seen trying to throw an infant into a river. Taking cognizance of the fact, Srinagar police acted swiftly and apprehended one person namely Mohd Abbas resident of Shar Shali area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district, Police official said. Two militants were killed on Wednesday evening in an encounter with security forces in Nowgam area of Srinagar district. A top police officer told GNS that two local militants were killed in gunfight in Nowgam. However identity of the slain militants could not be established as of now, the officer added. Kashmir’s renowened cyclist, Adil Teli has broken yet another record by cycling from Leh to Manali in a record time. He peddled a distance of 470 km high altitude path from Leh to Manali in 29:18:21 hours, breaking the earlier record set in 2020. In March 2021, the 23-year-old Kashmiri youth set a Guinness Book of World Record for the fastest Kashmir to Kanyakumari journey on cycle. Adil, started from City Center, Ghanta Ghar, Lal Chowk from 7:30 am on March 22, 2021 and completed the distance in eight days, 1 hour and 39 minutes by reaching the destination on March 30 at 7:30 am. From 2014, Adil started representing Jammu and Kashmir at the national level continuously and this amplified interest in cycling.

Police on Wednesday said to have arrested two ‘notorious thieves’ in central Kashmir’s Srinagar district. Identifying the arrestees as Basit Ahmad Baba, son of Mohd Yusuf Baba and Faisal Ahmad Ganai, son of Nazir Ahmad Ganai, both residents of Bharthana Qamarwari, a senior police officer said they had launched a hunt after receiving complaints of thefts in Srinagar district. “We have recovered stolen material from their possession and do expect to make more recoveries”, the officer told GNS. MBA student allegedly hangs self to death in Sopore

Sahil Gulzar A 25-year-old MBA student allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself to death in Sopore town of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday afternoon. A senior Police official told The Kashmiriyat that a youth (name withheld) was found hanging at his residence in Model town area Sopore. He said that the deceased was pursuing MBA from Pune college and had come to his home just two days ago. The family members of the youth immediately rushed him to the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Sopore where he was declared brought dead by the doctors. Meanwhile, police has registered the case and further investigation has been taken up as well, an official said.
