‘Verify facts’: Sajad Lone hits out at LG Manoj Sinha’s statement over Mirwaiz’s house arrest claim

People's conference chairman, Sajad Gani Lone on Friday hit out at the LG of Jammu Kashmir, Manoj Sinha over his claim that Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was not under house arrest. Reacting to the claim made by LG, Peoples Conference Chairman Sajad Gani Lone in a tweet said: “I think LG sahib needs to verify facts. His statements don’t reflect reality. May I humbly state that the tradition of locking up leaders and then denying is an old worn-out tradition. It has been happening for the last 3 decades." Sajad Lone had earlier condemned the house arrest of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and demanded his immediate release. Pertinently, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has been under house arrest since August 04, 2019.

A retired teacher, who was missing since yesterday from his home, was found dead on Friday in Feeripora area of Shopian district. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that Abdul Gani Rather(66) of Pudsoo village of Shopian was missing since Thursday. He said that today some locals spotted a body in Nallah Vaishav in Feeripora, following which a police party reached to the spot and took the body into their possession. The official said that the deceased was mentally unsound was missing since yesterday and the body will be handed over to legal heirs after medico-legal formalities. Sheikh Nadeem A 27-year-old youth from Panzgam Kokernag area of South kashmir's Anantnag district has been missing for the past 20 days. Family members speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that Arshid Ahmad Chopan, Son of Abdul Rashid Chopan, a resident of Panzgam Kokernag went missing on the 28th of July and has not returned yet. Arshid's Father and sister also issued a video appeal on Thursday in which they pleaded with people to help them find their kin. Jammu Kashmir reported 419 fresh covid-19 cases while there was no death due to the virus during the last 24 hours, officials said on Thursday. They said that 58 cases were reported from Jammu division and 361 from Kashmir Valley, taking the overall tally to 475109. Among the cases, 173251 are from Jammu division and 301858 from Kashmir Valley.
