‘Minority community’ member shot dead by Militants, his brother injured

Suspected militant on Tuesday morning shot dead a minority community member in Shopian district. An official told The Kashmiriyat that one civilian identified militants shot dead a minority community member identified as Sunil Kumar son of Arjun Nath while as his brother identified as Pintu Kumar was injured. Militants fired upon civilians in an apple orchard in Chotipora area of #Shopian. One person died and one injured. Both belong to minority community. Injured person has been shifted to hospital. Six troopers dead, 35 injured as bus carrying ITBP personnel meets an accident in Pahalgam

A bus carrying Government force personnel met with an accident in the Pahalgam area of south Kashmir's Anantnag area. An official told The Kashmiriyat that on Tuesday a bust carrying at least fourty  ITBP personnel met with an accident in the Frislan area of Pahalgam, causing injuries to all of the ITBP men. Sixof them died during the accident. Thirty five others have been shifted to the nearby hospital for treatment. Details emerging.

Jammu Kashmir admin ‘revises’ Village Defence Committee (VDC) scheme

The Jammu Kashmir Administration has revised the Village Defence Committee scheme unveiled by it in 1995 for self-protection of the identified vulnerable villages in Jammu province. In an order, a copy of which is in possession of news agency-Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the Jammu & Kashmir Home department said that a need was felt to revise the existing scheme with a view to prevent the incidents of militancy acts inspired and supported from across the border and to boost the security grid in the region. Dead body of newborn found in Sherbagh Anantnag

The body of a newborn baby was found in the water body at Sherbagh of south Kashmir's Anantnag town. An official told The Kashmiriyat that on Tuesday morning, the police recovered the body of a new born baby from Sherbagh. The body was taken to the nearby hospital for completion of medico legal formalities. He said that it appears that someone dumped off the baby and threw it into the water body. Details emerging.

Class 12 pass outs with top percentage eligible for INSPIRE: BOSE

Srinagar, Aug 15 (KNO): In Jammu and Kashmir, only those students who have qualified annual regular results of 12th standard within top one percent would be eligible for Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) scholarship. Anantnag, Aug 15 (KNO): Patients at Government Medical College Anantnag are suffering in absence of a cath laboratory. Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that cardiac catheterization lab, also known as a “cardiac cath lab,” is a specialized area in the hospital where doctors perform minimally invasive tests and advanced cardiac procedures to diagnose and treat cardiovascular disease. They said that cardiology unit is functional at GMC Anantnag but in absence of cath lab they refer patients with minor or major heart attack to Srinagar. A member of 'Minority community was injured in a grenade blast at Gopalpora area of Central Kashmir's Budgam district on Sunday evening. A senior police officer told GNS that suspected Militants hurled grenade at Gopalpora, leaving one member of Minority community injured. Identified as Karan Singh (20) son of Anil Kumar resident of Gopalpora, the injured was rushed to SMHS in Srinagar. His condition is stated to be stable. JK reports 273 Covid-19 cases, 2 deaths

Jammu  Kashmir reported 273 fresh covid-19 cases while there were two deaths due to the virus during the last 24 hours, officials said on Monday. They said that 34 cases were reported from Jammu division and 239 from Kashmir Valley, taking the overall tally to 474055. Among the cases, 173090 are from Jammu division and 300965 from Kashmir Valley. Providing district wise details of the cases, they said, Jammu reported 39 cases, Udhampur 5, Rajouri 2, Doda 2, Kathua 1, Samba 0, Kishtwar 2, Poonch 3, Ramban 4, Reasi 0, Srinagar 129, Baramulla 130, Budgam 58, Pulwama 12, Kupwara 80, Anantnag 60, Bandipora 8, Ganderbal 9, Kulgam 16 and Shopian 3. Body of Kangan youth recovered from Doodhganga stream in Srinagar

Body of a youth was recovered from Doodhganga stream near Bagh-e-mehtab area of Srinagar on Monday evening, reports said here. Reports reaching the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the body of Mohammad Yousuf Sangoo (21) of Kangan was spot in Doodhganga stream by some locals, who subsequently informed the police.
