The Jammu-Srinagar National highway has been closed for vehicular traffic due to shooting stones and landslides at Ramban, officials said on Monday. "Jammu-Srinagar (NH-44) blocked at Cafeteria, Mehar, Ramban due to mudslide and shooting stones. Also SSG road blocked at Drass due to cloud brust. However, Mughal road through for vehicular movement," Jammu and Kashmir Traffic police said. The highway is the lifeline of the Kashmir and the main road link connecting valley with the rest of the country. Kashmir bound trucks laden with essential supplies and other vehicles pass through the highway and fruit carrying trucks from the valley head for rest of the country through this road.

An accident took place in the Lal chowk area of Srinagar on Monday morning. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a collision took place between a police Rakshak and an Alto car near Ghanta Ghar in Srinagar's Lal Chowk area Monday morning. During the collision, the Rakshak turned turtle and the Alto car too suffered minor damage. One person has been injured in the accident who has been shifted to the nearby hospital for treatment. The Jammu Kashmir Police on Sunday said that the vehicle used by two militants, associated with Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) has been seized while one rifle and two grenades have also been recovered in Nowhatta area of Srinagar. A militant and a policeman were injured in an ongoing chance encounter in Nowhatta area of Srinagar on Sunday evening. As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), police in a tweet said that a policeman identified as Constable Sarfaraz Ahmad of Batote, Ramban was injured in the encounter, who was evacuated to hospital for treatment. Encounter has started between militants and security forces in Sujan Hill area of Rajouri District in Jammu Division on Sunday evening, offcials said. A senior police officer told GNS that a team of Police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Sujan Hil on a very specific input. As the joint team approached towards the suspected area, the hiding militants fired upon the party leading to an encounter, officer added. JK Reports 563 Covid-19 Cases, No Death

Jammu Kashmir reported 563 fresh covid-19 cases even as there was no death due to the virus during the last 24 hours, officials said on Sunday. They said that 58 cases were reported from Jammu division and 505 from Kashmir Valley, taking the overall tally to 473782. Among the cases, 173056 are from Jammu division and 300726 from Kashmir Valley. Providing district wise details of the cases, they said, Jammu reported 39 cases, Udhampur 5, Rajouri 2, Doda 2, Kathua 1, Samba 0, Kishtwar 2, Poonch 3, Ramban 4, Reasi 0, Srinagar 129, Baramulla 130, Budgam 58, Pulwama 12, Kupwara 80, Anantnag 60, Bandipora 8, Ganderbal 9, Kulgam 16 and Shopian 3. A married woman has gone missing from her home in south Kashmir's Qazigund area. Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, the family members of Nowreena Akhtar, wife of Adil Ahmed Yatoo, a resident of Sangdan Urigam said that Nowreena is missing since 6th August. "She is survived by two children; 4 years old and 9 years old. She left her home on 6th August for small work, but has not returned since," a family member said.
