The central government along with the Indian Railways will soon be opening the Delhi to Kashmir rail route for the public as the project is in its final stage, not only this but the railway bridge on the Chenab river in district Reasi on the Baramulla railway line is also near to its completion. The railway track from Katra to Banhal is 111 km, most of which has been completed and the rest is in full swing, a 12.6 km long T-49B tunnel has also been constructed on it. Panic has gripped the Barzulla area of Srinagar after unknown persons allegedly threw fireballs with petrol towards the residential houses during night hours. Speaking to the media the local residents said that during the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, unknown persons threw fireballs at several residential houses in the Barzulla area, triggering panic among the locals. An old woman who claimed to be an eyewitness to the incident said, "I was sleeping, but I suddenly woke up to footsteps. Soon I saw a flame of fireballs hit the tarpaulin sheet in our house. A 35-year-old woman was found hanging near her native village in Yarikhan area of Damhal Hanjipora in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday morning, officials said here. An official told the the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a woman (name withheld) was found hanging with walnut tree today morning, some 100 meters from her home in Yarikhan. He said that a case has been registered and further investigations has been taken up in this regard. Kupwara Police arrested two persons involved in peddling of drugs in the district. Police in a statement issued to Kashmir News Service KNS said that 'acting on a specific information on August, that two drug peddlers were on way to Kupwara town to sell narcotics, a special naka was established at Gushi to intercept them. During the course of naka checking, police team headed by SHO Kupwara, Inspector Rafiq Lone apprehended two notorious drug peddlers Tanveer Sultan Bhat son of Mohd Sultan Bhat resident of Dahama Vilgam and Waseen Ahmed Khan son of Abdul Malik Khan resident of Dedikoot Vilgam along with contraband brown sugar like substance in their possession. A Special Police Officer has allegedly shot himself to death at the place of his deployment in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. Police on Sunday said the SPO, a resident of Kakota, Gandoh, district Doda, deployed at Sessions Court for guard duty, ‘shot himself with his service rifle’. He died on the spot, the police said.
