Continuing with its efforts to check overpricing of tourism services by service providers, a team of officers of the Tourism Department conducted checks of various hotels in the city to check the services and their pricing being offered to visitors. During the checking, the team of officers slapped fine on two hotels, Taj Vivanta and Lalit Grand Palace for exorbitant rates and other service deficiencies. The units were also served notices that action under relevant clauses of J&K Registration of Tourist Trade Act and other legal action would follow for the violations and if course corrections are not done. Cyber Police Srinagar saves 58 Lakhs after receiving two complaints of fraud

Cyber Police Station Srinagar said that it saved 58 lakhs after it received complaints from two men hailing from north Kashmir’s Bandipora District and south Kashmir’s Awantipora District respectively. In a press release, Cyber Police said, The complainants alleged in their complaints that they have been defrauded by online scammers of an amount of Rs 44 lakhs in online investment/trading scam. Both complainants received links of fake investment websites on their cell numbers wherein they were promised to get double monetary benefits. The victims fell prey and accessed the website where they got themselves registered on said websites by opening of e-wallets. An employee of the Revenue department of Jammu Kashmir who was earlier shot at by suspected militants at Tehsil office in central Kashmir's Budgam district has succumbed to his injuries. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that on Thursday afternoon a Government employee identified as Rahul Bhatt posted at the Revenue office in Budgam's Chadoora was fired upon by the militants on the office premises. They said that Rahul sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Srinagar's SMHS hospital for treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Meanwhile, a search operation has been launched to nab the attackers.

At least 24 sheep including 8 lambs were buried alive when the earth caved in near a Crusher Machine site in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district. A 50-year-old driver died after a tipper vehicle was driving met with an accident in Surankote area of Poonch district on Wednesday evening.
