The Enforcement Wing of Lakes Conservation & Management Authority today carried out a demolition drive in the areas of Ranger-stop Saida Kadal Ashai-bagh, Habak & Lashkari Mohalla Northern foreshore road. During the demolition drive, 07 illegal constructions/ encroachments/ earth filling  were demolished, including one single storey structure, one 2nd storey over shops, two encroachments by way of fruit vendor on footpath and barbed wire, one wooden shed and a polythene covered wooden khokha were removed. Police on Tuesday arrested a youth on allegations of providing information to militants about security force's establishments and sharing connected material through social media. “On specific inputs, police along with other security forces apprehend one Anjum Mehmood son of Ghulam Moi Din of Baila tehsil Mandi,” a police official told GNS. The official claimed that the youth was connected with militants through social media platforms and was providing information to militants about security force's establishments and sharing related material. A suspicious bag near Qamarwari here led to a bomb scare ahead of the January 26 but nothing was eventually found by the BDS summoned to the place on Tuesday. Amid two grenades blasts, one near PCR and another at Saraf Kadal, ahead of R-Day in last two days in Srinagar, the abandoned bag led to the bomb-scare early morning. A police officer told GNS that the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was rushed as soon as the suspicious bag was found. After checking it thoroughly, the bag turned to be empty, the officer said.
