A senior police officer told news agency Kashmir Scroll that an FIR (No. 22/2023) has been registered at the Dachhan Police Station under Sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, and 120 B of the Indian Penal Code.
He said the FIR is against a Rohingya woman named Anwara Begum, along with others involved in the fraud and conspiracy.
The police acted on a tip-off regarding the issuance of a domicile certificate to Anwara Begum in the Dachhan area of Kishtwar District.
The certificate was allegedly issued on 19th September 2020 by the then Tehsildar Dachhan.

In a successful operation, a wild bear has been captured by the wildlife department in the Nowpora area of South Kashmir's Anantnag district.
An official told news agency Kashmir Scroll that forest department along with the help of locals, managed to capture the bear live in the fields of Nowpora area of Dooru.
The bear has now been transported to the nearby forest, and there were no reports of any loss of life during the operation.
The wildlife department has advised people to stay away from the forests and fields to avoid any encounters with wild animals. (KS)
A student was shot and injured by unknown gunmen on Wednesday evening in Watrigam Wanihama area of Anantnag district.
A top police officer told GNS that suspected militants fired upon a youth identified as Sahil Bashir son of Bashir Ahmad Dar resident of Watrigam Dialgam a student at Wanihama.
He was immediately shifted to nearby hospital for treatment, he has a bullet injury in his neck.

Jammu Kashmir Police on Tuesday said that news uploaded by Bharat Tak about DySP Adil Mushtaq's involvement in the Kokernag encounter is fake.
In a post on X, Police said, “It has come to notice that a video news item has been uploaded purportedly issued by a news agency by the name of Bharat TAK suggesting that DSP Adil Mushtaq is involved in the Kokernag terror incident as an insider betrayal.”

Jammu Police on Tuesday said to have arrested two fake police officers, who were impersonating as a Police Inspector and an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer.
Both the accused have been arrested from a hotel in Jewel area of Jammu, police said, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

A minor girl died after she was hit by a dumper in Reshipora area of Awantipora in south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Tuesday.
An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the girl (10) identified as Areeba Arshad was hit by dumper, resulting in injuries to her.
