The Jammu Kashmir police on Friday claimed to have arrested a militant of LeT outfit in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that Pulwama police and security forces apprehended a categorised militant identified as Shamim Sofi son of Ghulam Mohammad Sofi of Nikloora. 41 Kanals of Pandit Land Freed in Massive ‘Anti-Encroachment’ Drive in Anantnag

The Jammu Kashmir administration has launched a massive anti-encroachment drive to free migrant land from encroachers, news 18 reported Thursday. The report mentioned that 41 ‘kanals’ (20 ‘kanals’ form one hectare) have been “freed” in just three weeks. Nearly 400 of the 1,000 complaints in this south Kashmir district have been processed in less than a month, even as 95% of complaints have been found fake. “During our field inspections, we found that land of migrants has been encroached upon at many places. Based on the online complaints, we have initiated a drive to reclaim this land from encroachers. Our teams have found 22 cases of encroachments, land grab, and trespassing. Weatherman on Monday has predicted “mainly dry weather” with a little possibility of brief spell of light rain at isolated places during one week in Jammu Kashmir. “Weather remained dry in whole Kashmir and same weather is likely to continue for next one week,” a Meteorological Department official said. A youth from Kulgam district was found hanging at his maternal home in Pulwama on Thursday. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the 21-year-old-youth from Aherbal hamlet of Kulgam was found hanging in a room at his maternal home in Dalipora area of Pulwama. He said that he was immediately shifted to district hospital Pulwama where he was declared dead on arrival. A couple suffered burn injuries after leakage of gas caused fire in Pampore area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday, official said.
