Rayees Shah The Residents of Kullan Village of Kangan of Ganderbal on Thursday staged protest demonstration against water shortage in the area. The protesters speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that the department has failed to provide drinking water to the said area for three weeks. The residents of Bonpora, Sheikh Mohallah, Shah Mohallah which included men and women, took streets of staged a strong protest against the lack of water. A large number of people, including men, women and children protested and stopped the traffic movement on Srinagar-Leh Kangan at Kullan. The protesting residents raised slogans against R&B department of Budgam for having failed to macadamize the roads for years. A 60-year-old man on Tuesday died after he allegedly set himself ablaze in Quilmuqam village of North kashmir's Bandipora district. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that the man, who was a labourer by profession, set himself ablaze at his residence by pouring kerosene oil. “With over 95% burn injuries, the injured man was rushed to district hospital Bandipora,, where doctors declared him dead on arrival," he said.
