Mehraj u Din Halwai, top Hizbul Mujahideen commander was killed during an encounter with the Government forces in Handwara district of Kupwara in Jammu Kashmir on Wednesday morning. Mehraj-ud-Din Halwai alias Ubaid, as per Police records, was one of the oldest militants and a contemporary of slain Hizb commander Burhan Wani. While Burhan was active down South, recruiting a large number of Youth, Mehraj played the same role behind the curtain in North Kashmir. He had joined militancy in 2011. A cloudburst has hit Zedgay Nallah at Tulail area of Gurez in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Tuesday evening. An official told the that a cloudburst triggered flash floods in Zedgay Nallah area, which led to an overflow of a nearby stream and the water entered into the house of villagers. “Due to cloudburst, two cows also died on the spot and several residential houses got submerged,” he said. Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gurez, Mudasir Ahmad said that they have sent teams to access the situation. 55-year-old Man Critically Wounded in Bear Attack in Bandipora

A 55-year-old man was critically injured after being attacked by the bear in North Kashmir's Bandipora district on Tuesday morning. An official identified the man as Mohd Yousif Dar son of Habibulla Dar of Kemah Bandipora. The official said that Mohd Yousuf was outside his home during wee hours today when a bear attacked him. The official said that the man was critically injured in the attack and has been shifted to a bandipora hospital where from doctors referred him to srinagar for advance treatment. One Army man was killed during a Gunfight that between Militants and Government forces in the Hanjan area of Rajpora in Pulwama late on Thursday.
