An army man died, while another one was injured after service rifle of one of the army men accidently went off in Bapora area of north Kashmir's Bandipora district. Bandipora police in a post on X, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) informed that the accused army personnel has been detained. Police said that in the incident one army man has died and another one was injured, while legal action has been initiated. "There has been an accidental discharge of weapon resulting in one fatal casuality and one injury to army personnel. Accused army personnel has been detained. A team of Anti-Corruption Bureau on Saturday arrested a traffic cop for taking bribe of Rs 9,000 in Sonamarg area of central Kashmir's Ganderbal district. One more militant and a police SPO were killed in a gunfight in Rajouri district, officials said on Wednesday. In all, two militants, an army soldier and the SPO were killed in the gunfight, they said. Lt Col Suneel Bartwal, PRO (Defence) Jammu, told GNS that Indian Army and JKP have been tracking two militants since September 7. A heavy firefight on September 12 led to the death of one militant at Narla area of the district, he said. Despite challenging weather and terrain, he said, the second militant was neutralized today. "Significant warlike stores were seized," he said. One soldier from 63 RR and an SPO were also killed. "An Army dog also laid down her life". He said "operations continue." (GNS)

Officers of Army and Jammu and Kashmir police were injured during encounter that broke out between in Gadool hamlet of south Kashmir's Anantnag district on Wednesday, police said. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of terrorists in the area. He said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, terrorists fired upon them, which was retaliated to, thus triggering an encounter. Authorities are carrying a drone survey for the construction of railway lines in Kashmir, officials said on Saturday. Scores of customers of the J&K Bank’s Hyderbeigh Pattan branch on Saturday held a protest against the J&K Bank Corporate Headquarters for “shielding” an employee who has allegedly misappropriated money from the branch to the tune of around one crore rupees. The customers told the news agency CNS that the J&K Bank Corporate Headquarters has failed to bring the report initiated into the erring employee, who has diverted the money close to one crore rupees from the Hyderbeigh Pattan’s branch of J&K Bank to his wife’s account.
