Police Arrests 5 Gamblers in Kulgam, Recovers Stake Money

The Jammu Kashmir Police on Saturday said that it arrested five gamblers in Kulgam district of South Kashmir and recovered the stake money from the possession of the five. According to a Police press release, acting promptly upon specific information regarding the gambling in the jurisdiction of police station Qazigund Police party led by I/C PP Mirbazar Sub Inspector Imtiyaz Ahmad under the supervision of SHO Qazigund Insp. Irshad Reshi and I/C SDPO Qazigund Surinder Mohan raided the suspected place in village Amaanpora and arrested 05 persons while they were indulged in gambling. Handwara Narco-Terrorism Case: 91 Lakh ‘Drug Proceeds’ Recovered by NIA in Samba

  The National Investigating Agency on Friday claimed to have recovered Rs. 91 Lakh “Drug Proceeds” in a case related to Handwara Narco-Terrorism. In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), an official spokesperson said that NIA recovered proceeds of narcotics to the tune of Rs. 91 Lakhs in cash in Handwara Narco-Terrorism case (RC-03/2020/NIA/JMU). He said that the case was initially registered as FIR No. 183.2020 dated 11.06.2020 at police station Handwara, wherein during checking of vehicles at Kairo Bridge, Handwara, one accused namely Abdul Momin Peer’s Hyundai Creta vehicle was intercepted by police and during search Rs. 20 Lakh along with two Kgs Heroin was recovered. Danishwar Hameed Four Army men were injured in a road accident at Adijan area of Damhal Hanjipora in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Friday morning. An official told The Kashmiriyat that a vehicle of 9 Rashtriya Rifles of Indian Army turned turtle on the road near Adijan road in Damhal Hanipora in Kulgam district resulting in injuries to four Army men.   Six residential houses were gutted overnight in a fire incident in Jammu Kashmir’s Srinagar district. Police said fire engulfed the residential houses in the densely populated Nawabazar locality in the old city area here. “Fire tenders were immediately pressed into service and the blaze was controlled from spreading. “Six residential houses have been completely destroyed. Meer Irfan  Two cousin sisters from Shopian of Class 7th and 10th went missing from their home in the Shopian district of South Kashmir. A Police official told The Kashmiriyat that the Jammu Kashmir Police filed an FIR was registered under section 363 of the Indian Penal Code at Police Station at Zainapora and swung into action to find the missing cousins. Within twelve hours of the initiation of the investigation, 25 persons were questioned and the girls were recovered from the Srinagar district of Central Kashmir. The boy arrested in the case is said to be from Srinagar. Both girls are minor by age and according to reports, the kidnapper has been arrested within 12 hours after the parents filed a missing persons report.
