The locals from Chandrigam hamlet of Tral sub-division of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district Saturday expressed strong resentment against authorities for failing to find a safe building for the New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) which is lacking all kinds of facilities. The sole doctor posted at this NTPHC has been directed to remain present at Sub-District Hospital Tral which has been causing immense hardships for the locals. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said that Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) will be removed from Jammu and Kashmir once peace returns to Jammu Kashmir Addressing a security conclave in Jammu, the defence minister said the law will be removed from J-K too. Singh said, ” While we have controlled the problem of insurgency in North East India, we have also been successful in controlling left wing extremism. Today AFSPA has been removed from large parts of North East. 18-year-old girl drown to death in bid to rescue brother from drowning in Bandipora

In a tragic event, a sister drowned to death while attempting to rescue his brother in Sumbal area in north Kashmir's Baramulla district. Reports reaching GNS said that a boy namely Nazakat Ali (21) drowned while taking bath in a river in Shadipora of Sumbal area this morning. As the news spread, many onlookers and locals made efforts to rescue the boy and in the meantime sister of the drowned boy also jumped into the river in a frantic attempt to save his brother. Overnight rains brought some respite from hot and humid weather conditions as night temperature recorded a drop at most places in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, officials said. A meteorological department official here told GNS that Srinagar received 1.2mm of rain, Qazigund traces, Pahalgam 1.1mm, Kupwara 0.2mm, Banihal 1.4mm, Batote 8.6mm, Katra 2.2.mm and Bhaderwah 0.4mm. The Mutton Wholesale Dealers Association has appealed to the Jammu Kashmir administration to notify sales points for selling sacrificial animals for the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha in Kashmir Valley. The Association has also appealed to ensure hassle free movement of trucks laden with sacrificial animals on the Srinagar-Jammu highway. Authorities usually identify the sales points at Eidgah, Shalteng , Bypass Nowgam and Buchpora but so far no sales points for sacrificial animals have been identified and announced.
