Cherry growers in this central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district said they suffered “severe damage” due to the inclement weather. A day after Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir Valley recorded the season's hottest day, the night temperature too showed an upward trend and settled above normal in J&K on Wednesday. Army on Tuesday continued the rescue operation to retrieve the body who drowned in a flood channel in Srinagar on Sunday. An official told the news agency— Kashmir Scroll that an eight-year-old boy identified as Ikhlas son of Ab Qayoom resident of Hamdaniya Colony drowned in a flood channel near Mithayi Bund Hamdaniya colony on Sunday. He said that soon after he drowned, locals along SDRF team and police started a rescue operation, however, they failed to retrieve the body of the minor on day 02. The operation was put on halt for the night and it resumed on Monday when the army also joined the operation, they said. A female body was recovered from Nallah Doodganga at Wathora area of Chadoora in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Sunday afternoon.
