A minor boy drowned in a flood channel in Hamdaniya Colony locality of Bemina in Srinagar on Sunday afternoon even as rescue operation has been launched to trace him. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the boy drowned while he was playing football with friends and soon after people present at the spot raised hue and cry. He said that following the incident a rescue operation was launched to rescue the boy from flood channel. The official said that State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and police have also reached to the spot for the rescue operation. “The rescue operation is going on to trace the boy, however, he is yet to be traced,” he said. 22-year-old allegedly hangs self to death in Naugam Handwara

A 22-year-old man allegedly hanged self to death in Naugam area of Handwara in north Kashmir's Kupwara district, sources said. They told GNS that a youth, a resident of Naugam Inderdaji was found hanging by a rope at his home on intervening Saturday and Sunday night. "According to the family, he had been suffering from depression for last several years, which could be the possible reason for him taking this extreme step", they said. UP resident found dead in Sopore

The body of an Uttar Pradesh resident was found dead in Sopore town of north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Saturday. An official told the news agency— Kashmir Scroll that a body was discovered in the Jehlum River by fishermen who then informed the police. T he deceased has been identified as Pintu, a 32-year-old resident of VaidPura Ferozpora Uttar Pradesh, currently residing in Muslimpeer Sopore. Low intensity tremors felt in Ramban; 7th such shaking in Chenab Valley in last 5 days

A low-intensity earthquake was felt on Saturday afternoon across Ramban district. Officials in the knowhow of things said the earthquake, occuring at 2:03 PM, measured 3.0 on Richter Scale. The epicentre of the quake, happening at a depth of 5 kms, was located in Ramban, they said. There were however no immediate reports of any damage caused anywhere in or around the epicentre. Notably, the fresh tremor has taken the tally of earthquakes felt in Chenab valley to seven since occurence of a 5.4 magnitude quake in Doda district on preceding Tuesday. (GNS)

Police opens fire after observing suspicious movement in Budgam, No injury

Police on Wednesday opened fire after Observing Suspicious movement near Imambara area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district. A top police officer told GNS that security forces opened some gunshots this evening near Imambara after observing some suspicious movement. SIU chargesheets Basit Mir, two other militants

Special Investigation Unit Srinagar of police on Wednesday presented chargesheet against two LeT/TRF militants, one killed militant before the Court of NIA Srinagar. In a handout to GNS, the police said that its SIU presented chargesheet in case FIR No 50/2022 under sections 307, 302 IPC ,7/27 IA Act 13, 16, 18, 20 & 38 UA (P) Act of Police Station Soura against 02 active militants and a killed militant. Toddler drowns to death in Budgam village

A toddler drowned to death on Wednesday afternoon in Danas area of central Kashmir's Budgam district. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a 2-year-old boy was playing when he drowned in Nallah Sukhnag and soon after the incident locals and officials started rescue operation. Baramulla: Man molests minor boy, threatens not to tell anyone

Jammu Kashmir Police on Wednesday accused a man of sexual molestation of a minor boy in the arrested area of Baramulla and said that the accused has been arrested. Two Policemen injured after attacks by sand miners in Jammu

An elderly tourist from the Dehrdun area of Uttarakhand on Monday went missing after a hotel was gutted in a fire mishap in the Pahalgam area of south Kashmir's Anantnag district.
