August 19 The Jammu Kashmir Police on Sunday claimed to have destroyed bhang cultivation spread on about 8 kanals of land in the Sangam area of South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) District. The Police said that a on the direction of Senior Superintendent of Jammu Kashmir Police for District Islamabad (anantnag), a team headed by SHO Bijbehara under the supervision of SDPO Bijbehara destroyed bung cultivation spread on about 08 Kanlas of land at Semthan Sangam. Clashes Erupt During CASO in Pulwama Area

August 19 Massive Clashes erupted during a CASO launched in Aglar area in South Kashmir's Pulwama District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 55 RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police laid down the Search operation jointly. "The Operation was launched after troopers received a specific input about Militant movement in the area," Sources said. Scores of youth hit the streets when the Anti Militancy operation was launched and threw stones on troops amid intense pro Freedom sloganeering. Police Arrests Bootlegger in Kokernag

Nocturnal Raids Continue in South Kashmir- At least Five Arrested

August 18 The Government forces raided the Walerhama Locality in Pahalgam and Kanjullar Locality in Shopian area of South Kashmir's and arrested youths during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that at least four youths have been arrested in the Kanjkulla locality when forces raided the Village around 1130 in the night while one youth was picked up during a raid in Walerhama Pahalgam. They four were detained in  Kanjjular when the Forces including Jammu Kashmir Police barged inside the houses of the youth and took them into detention. August 18 A Cordon and Search Operation has been launched in the Bamnoo area of Achgazoo in South Kashmir's Pulwama District on Saturday morning. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Government Forces including RR of Indian Army and Jammu Kashmir Police launched a joint Anti Militancy operation in the area following specific input about Militant presence in the Bamnoo area. Weapon Snatching Bid Foiled in Shopian

August 18 Suspected Militants early morning on Saturday fired at the guard post of National Conference Member, Showkat Ahmed Ganie at Chitragam in South Kashmir's Shopian. Police officials confirming the attack to The Kashmiriyat said that the incident took place around 4:30 am in the morning, but the alert guards opened fire on the Militants forcing them to escape.
