Danishwar Hameed Veshaw River, a major tributary of River Jhelum has been turned into a dumping site in the Pahloo area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district causing immense damage to the water body in particular and to the environment in general. Municipal Committee Handwara demolished an ‘illegal’ under-construction shopping complex, coming up within the township, on Tuesday, official sources said. They told GNS that an under-construction shopping complex on the land with Khasra numbers 1464, 65, 66, 67, and 71 were demolished by the Municipal Committee Handwara after people flagged concern over its alleged illegal construction within the Municipal limits. “Taking cognizance of the concern expressed by people, the Municipal Committee swung into action and razed the structure to ground today”, they said. A bike rider died in a road accident in the Pantha Chowk area of Central Kashmir Srinagar district Srinagar on Monday. An official told the news agency— Kashmir Scroll that an accident took place in Zaffron Colony Pantha Chowk in which a truck bearing registration number JK01A 4711 hit and injured a biker rider.
