Shabir Khan In a first-of-its-type incident, six persons were injured in a fox attack in the Tarzoo area of Sopore in north Kashmir's Baramulla district. Locals from Tarzoo told The Kashmiriyat that the fox has created panic in the entire area and on Tuesday morning, the fox attacked locals working in their orchard, leaving five persons injured. As per the locals, the fox appeared out of nowhere and attacked people after which the injured had to be rushed to a nearby hospital. Their condition is said to be stable. Seeking help from the Wildlife Department, the locals said, "The ferocious fox’s unpredictable behavior has discouraged locals from venturing into their orchards, fearing potential harm." 6-year-old girl critically wounded after hit by speedy vehicle in Kulgam

Danishwar Hameed A 6-year-old girl was critically wounded after being hit by a speedy vehicle in the Tarigam area of south Kashmir's Kulgam district. An official told The Kashmiriyat that on Thursday afternoon Azima Jan daughter of Irfan Ahmad Malla was crossing the road when a speedy vehicle hit her in the south Kashmir area. He said that Azima was rushed to the hospital in Kulgam, where she was referred to Srinagar's SKIMS for advanced treatment. Police have taken cognizance of the matter, he said.

The National Investigating Agency (NIA) on Thursday early morning carried out raids at several locations in Kashmir. The raids, as per officials, are being carried out in Budgam, Baramulla and Handwara districts. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that in Baramulla the central agency raided the house of Mufti Abdul Rahim, brother of SAR Geelani, who was arrested in connection with Parliament attack case. The security forces on Wednesday arrested two Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant associates along with ammunition from Sopore village of north Kashmir's Baramulla district. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that during the cordon and search operation (CASO) at Saidpura village of Sopore, a person was arrested, who revealed that he is working for Lashkar e Toiba militant outfit. Sheikh Mehboob Ali, the owner of Hotel Lala Sheikh passed away on Wednesday due to a cardiac arrest. Mehboob was the face behind the iconic tea shop situated in Srinagar's Residency road and had been running the shop for over seven decades. The cafe was set by Lala Sheikh, a resident of Handjan area in Budgam, Lala Sheikh set up the shop and it soon became renowned for its cakes and other bakery products. The shop was the meeting point of several prominent personalities from Srinagar including Dina Nath Nadim, Mirza Arif, Amin Kamil, Pran Jalal. Two persons accused of kidnapping two minor girls have been arrested in Baramulla district of North Kashmir. An official told Kashmir Scroll that on May 1st, 2023, Abdul Rehman Beigh s/o Abdul Rahim Beigh approached police station Sheeri and lodged a complaint alleging that his two daughters ( identity withheld) aged 14 and 15 years, were kidnapped by Mohd Aqib Dar and Rayees Ahmad Lone, both residents of Pehliharan. Four injured in gas cylinder blast in Poonch

At least four people sustained injuries in a cylinder explosion in Jammu Kashmir's Poonch on Monday. According to a report, the injured persons were immediately taken to a hospital for their treatment. Later, the doctor informed that out of the four injured persons, three had sustained minor burns while the other was majorly injured. A residential house was damaged in a fire incident in Lolab area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district this afternoon. Reports reaching GNS said that a fire broke out in a residential house in Cheepora village of Lolab area belonging to one Abdul Gani Khan, son of Late Gulab Khan. Soon after intimation, the Fire and Emergency Department reached the site and doused off the flames. Court denies bail to Nayeem Khan in militancy funding case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has opposed the bail plea of separatist leader Nayeem Ahmad Khan in a case related to alleged terror funding under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) before the Delhi High Court, Live Law reported. Khan has been in judicial custody since August 14, 2017, and has been accused by the NIA of “creating unrest” in the Kashmir valley. He was arrested on July 24, 2017, and charges for various offences under the Indian Penal Code, including sedition and UAPA, were framed against him by a special NIA court on March 16 last year.
