Five injured in Qazigund road accident

At least five persons were injured in a road accident in Qazigund area of South Kashmir. An official told The Kashmiriyat that two vehicles collided with each other on bypass in Shampora area of Qazigund on Friday afternoon. In the incident at least five persons were injured who have been hospitalized where their condition is said to be stable, he said. Meanwhile police have taken cognizance and started investigation.

South Kashmir: Gunfight rages in Shopian

Encounter broke out between militants and government forces in Chakoora area of South Kashmir's Shopian district on Wednesday. Reports reaching GNS that a joint team of Police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Chakoora. As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight. Two persons give a lift to teenage girls in Kupwara, attempt to rape them

On Monday, two persons attempted rape on two teenage girls in the Kralgund area of north Kashmir's Kupwara district. An official told The Kashmiriyat that two teenage girls had sought lift from a private vehicle at Rassipora towards Watergam in Kupwara. Those on board did give a lift, however, moments after the two teenage girls boarded the vehicle, the driver and another person tried to rape the duo. The two girls, however, managed to jump off the vehicle at Rasripora. Jammu Kashmir Police in this regard registered an FIR no 33/2023 under relevant sections of law at PS Kralgund and an investigation was initiated.

At least four residential houses were damaged in a fire incident in Alamgari Bazar in summer capital Srinagar, officials said. They told news agency Kashmir Dot Com that fire broke out from a residential house belonging to Parvaiz Ahmad Mir, which later spread to three more residential houses belonging to Zaffar Ahmad Malla, Dilawar Hussain Malla and Ghulam Mohammad Dar. In this mishap, four residential houses were damaged. Firefighters douse the flames on time to avoid any further damage. However, there was no loss of life or injury. 134 women from Jammu Kashmir to perform Hajj without Mahram

After the Saudi government announced that a mahram is no longer needed to accompany a woman pilgrim, a first-of-its kind decision, more than 4300 women have applied for Hajj without mahram this year. According to Ministry of Minority Affairs as quoted by ANI, applications from approximately 4314 women have been received. The Ministry also stated that this is the highest number of applications received till date from women aged 45 and above.
