JK admin increases Dearness Allowance for Government employees

The Jammu Kashmir admin on Monday ordered the revision Dearness Allowance to Government employees with effective from 01.07.2022. In a notification issues by the Finance Department (Codes Division) Civil Secretariat, Jammu Kashmir, of which a copy lies with The Kashmiriyat, the Dearness Allowance to Government employees has been revised rate effective from 01.07.2022. "In continuation to Government Order No 113-F of 2022 (dated 20.04.2022, it is hereby ordered that Government employees working in regular pay levels under 7' Pay Commission recommendations, shall be paid Dearness Allowance at 38 per cent against the basic pay revising the older rule of 34 percent," the order read. After one year, a vital bridge on Pulwama-Anantnag road via litter is awaiting completion due to which public is suffering. A massive fire has broken out in Yakerboru Bala village in Kapran of Verinag in South Kashmir's Anantnag district. Reports reaching GNS said that fire broke out from a residential house and soon spread to other adjacent houses, besides few cow sheds. A rescue operation is on at the site even as the flames continued to rage, when this report is being filed. An F&ES official told GNS that it is believed that at least five houses and two cowsheds are caught in flames. "Men and machinery is on site to bring the blaze under control as soon as possible", the official said adding "We nonetheless have asked for more machinery and firefighters to avoid more damage." Residents of Doonipora village in Bijbehara told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that despite living near the national highway, they are yet to get a drinking water facility. Police on Monday claimed to have arrested two militant associates affliated with Lashkar-i-Toiba oufit in Kellar area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district. A senior police officer told GNS that on a specific input a joint team of Police, army and CRPF during searches arrested two LeT militant associates. They have been identified as Gowhar Manzoor Bhat and Abid Hussain Nanda both resident of Drabgam Pulwama. From their possession one pistol, a grenade, 10 rounds and Rs 60000 have been recovered, the officer said. Recently canceled JKSSB Job exams to be conducted in November, the LG said while speaking at a function at SKICC here. He said, "Gone are the days when jobs were sold on roads and streets of Kashmir and Jammu. We canceled the exams conducted by the PSC after allegations of irregularities and ordered a CBI inquiry. Some arrests were made and more are likely to be made. All the canceled exams will now be held afresh in November." South Kashmir sees worrying rise in number of drug abusers

In a worrying trend, South Kashmir districts are seeing a fresh spurt in the number of drug addicts while less drug abusers are visiting the drug de-addiction facilities set up by the government, officials said. Health officials, wishing not to be named, told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), around one percent of the total drug abusers are turning up to addiction treatment facilities functional in all hospitals of J&K and the number is miniscule in southern districts. Figures available with the KNO suggest that the addiction treatment facility at GMC Anantnag in 2020 recorded arrivals of 267 drug abusers in year 2020 followed by 638 in year 2021 and over 400 visits in ensuing year. In a significant move, the Jammu Kashmir admin has expanded the social caste list by including 15 new classes to it. In a notification, the Jammu Kashmir admin has included 15 more classes into its social caste category list. Under the Jammu  Kashmir Government’s reservation rules, social castes have four percent reservation in government jobs.
