The Government of India on Tuesday declared 10 militants presently staying in Pakistan as terrorists under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act -1967. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs today notified 10 militants of different groups operating in Jammu Kashmir as terrorists under the UAPA. These militants faced action from the Centre on the day when Union Home Minister Amit Shah is in Kashmir. The cop whose service rifle had gone off accidentally killing a civilian in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district has been arrested and a formal case has been registered against him. Pertinently, the police had claimed that a 25-year-old youth Asif Ayoub Padroo of Potriwal village of Shopian was seriously injured when the service rifle of a cop at a Naka in Hall village went off accidentally. The victim was shifted to Srinagar hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries. A high-level committee headed by the administrative secretary of J&K’s Home department would be constituted to consider the eligible life convict prisoners for their premature release. The new jail manual accessed by news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) lays bare that a committee shall be constituted by the Jammu  Kashmir Government for considering the eligible life convicts for their premature release. A policeman was killed where as a CRPF personnel was injured in a militant attack at Pinglana area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has opposed in the Delhi High Court the plea of a Kashmiri woman separatist leader challenging the attachment of her mother-in-law's house, saying the property was utilised for “militant activities” and even for celebrating “Pakistan Day.” The agency, in its reply, claimed that the attached house was used as the office of proscribed militant organisation Dukhtaran-E-Millat (DEM) by Aasiya Andrabi, and anti-India speeches were made and pro-Pakistani slogans were chanted at the meetings held there. Fifty militants including 10 Pakistani militants have been killed in Kulgam district in the last one year.
