A court in Jammu on Wednesday issued a production warrant against Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Muhammad Yasin Malik, directing the Tihar jail authorities to produce him physically before it on the next date of hearing in Rubaiya Sayeed abduction case. Talking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), advocate Monika Kohli, CBI counsel in the case, said  the TADA court has issued a production warrant against Malik and directed the Tihar jail authorities to produce him before it on the next date of the hearing “The next date of hearing is scheduled on October 20,” she said. ‘Disappearance’ of local woman sparks protest in Budgam

The mysterious disappearance of a woman sparked a protest in Narbal area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district today. According to reports a 40-year old woman identified as Aisha Akhtar wife of Showkat Ahmed Bhat of Narbal had gone to SMHS Hospital Srinagar to inquire the health of a patient on yesterday morning and since then she is untraceable. “We tried to call her but her cell-phone is powered off,” one of the family members told news agency Kashmir News Trust. The family members and locals today blocked the road demanding to trace the ‘missing’ woman. Police rushed to the spot and informed the protesters that a case has already been registered and efforts are on to trace the missing woman. (KNT)

In yet another incident of man-animal conflict, a bear critically injured a man in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district. Official sources said that a wild bear who had entered into Panar village of Bandipora mauled a man identified as Nazir Ahmad Bania son of Babu Bania, a resident of the same hamlet. The victim was somehow rescued by locals and shifted to District Hospital Banipora with critical injuries. A couple of days ago a leopard had mauled a little girl to death in North Kashmir’s Uri. Over 2000 cases of lumpy disease have been reported in Kashmir so far and over 60 percent of the affected animals have recovered. Director Animal Husbandry Kashmir Purnima Mithal told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that 2,112 cases of lumpy disease have been reported in Kashmir so far. She said that department has already started vaccination process and around 65 percent of the affected cattle have already recovered. According to her, about 89 cattle suffering from the disease have died so far in Kashmir and situation is very much under control. Body of non-local labourer found hanging in Rajouri

Body of a 35-year-old non-local labourer was found hanging to a tree near his accommodation in Sunderbani area of Rajouri district on Tuesday, officials said. They identified the deceased as Ramashri son of Sonalal of Panna, Madhya Pradesh. Ramashri was putting up in Juggi area of Sunderbani and other laborers residing in the vicinity informed police about the incident, they said. “A police party rushed to the spot and shifted him to Sub District Hospital Sunderbani where doctors declared him brought dead,” the officials told GNS. After ignoring the directions of the court, Special Mobile Magistrate Passenger Tax Srinagar has issued an arrest warrant against Tehsildar North Srinagar. The court of Special Mobile Magistrate Mr Sunil Kumar as per news agency Kashmir News Trust while issuing the bailable warrant against the Tehsildar North Qaisar Mehmood has directed the concerned police to arrest and produce him in the court on 30 September. The court has also directed the police to desist from the arrest if the said Tehsildar produces a bail, but in that case, as well, the police are being directed to produce him on the next date of hearing falling on 30 September.
