Supreme Court dismisses petition seeking suspension of vacant J-K assembly seats

The Supreme Court of India on Monday dismissed a plea regarding vacant constituencies numbering 24 under Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, reported Bar and Bench. The applicant pleaded: “These constituencies should be suspended as the people are not able to enjoy all rights.” Chief justice U.U. Lalit, as per the report, said that “these are all in the policy domain. This is like an act of state”. “Why are you bothered with this? It is under India only,” he added, dismissing the plea. Before restarting the political process in J-K, the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, made it mandatory to follow the delimitation process. Suhail Dar Anantnag's District hospital which was upgraded to a Medical College in 2019 is the premier hospital for south Kashmir districts and also witnesses patient intake from the district of Banihal. According to the official figures, the hospital has an intake of 800 patients on an average per day. The patients include those from Pulwama, Shopian, Anantnag and Kulgam, sometimes Banihal too. A CRPF paramilitary trooper died of a suspected cardiac arrest at his home in Gundishart of Karnah in Kupwara district this afternoon, officials said. They told GNS that one Ghulam Yameen son of Manghat Khatanna, a resident of Ibkote suffered a major cardiac arrest during a function at his home, adding he was lifted for immediate medical attention to SDH Kupwara, where the doctors however declared him as brought dead on arrival. Srinagar, Sept 03 (KNO): A migrant labourer died while another was injured while unloading construction material at an under construction hotel in Rajbagh area of Srinagar on Saturday, reports said here. Reports reaching to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that two labourers identified as Rohit Yadav (21) and Ladoo Kumar (19) were critically injured when they were unloading construction material in Rajbagh. They said that the injured labourers were shifted to SMHS hospital for treatment, however, Rohit succumbed to his injuries, while Ladoo Kumar was being treated and his condition is said to be stable.
