Noted journalist Muzamil Jaleel bereaved, mother passes away

Bandipora, Sept 03 (KNO): Mehmooda Fazli wife of late Atta Mohammad Zia and mother of noted journalist Muzamil Jaleel passed away on Saturday at her native village Gamroo in North Kashmir's Bandipora district. A family member told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that Mehmooda left for heavenly abode at around 03:00 AM and her Nimaz-e-Janaza will be held at 11:30 am today. Meanwhile, several journalist associations, politicians and civil society members expressed sympathy with the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul. Minor girl allegedly raped in Srinagar, Accused arrested

A minor girl was allegedly raped in the Maloora area of Srinagar after which Jammu Kashmir Police arrested the accused. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a minor girl (name with held) was raped by a man in his 30s identified as Aijaz Ahmed Sheikh, a resident of Khunmoh area in Srinagar, four days ago. Aijaz had been absconding since he committed the crime. The Jammu Kashmir Police on Friday arrested Aijaz and registered a case against him under the relevant section of Indian Penal code and POSCO act.

Residents of Achabal Anantnag on Thursday staged a protest demonstration against Jal Shakti Department against supply of contaminated water to the area. The protesters, mainly women, blocked traffic and shouted slogans in favour of their “sole” demand for potable water from Achbal and not from the present means. “Our issue is about the supply of drinking water on which life depends. We are being provided contaminated water as a result of which our children fall ill on a regular basis,” a woman protester said as per the GNS correspondent. JK sees highest UAPA cases in country: NCRB report

Jammu and Kashmir witnessed the highest number of cases across the country under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) were registered in 2021, revealed the latest report of National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). Two militants affiliated with LeT were killed in a gunfight that broke out between militants and government forces at Nagbal village of Zainapora area in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, officials said on Tuesday.
