Srinagar areas shut down on anniversaries of Mirwaiz, Abdul Gani Lone

Various parts of Srinagar Saturday observed a shutdown to mark the anniversary of the killings of Hurriyat leaders, Mirwaiz Molvi Farooq and Abdul Gani Lone. Shops, business establishments, around the downtown area and adjoining areas shut to mark the anniversary, Locals told The Kashmiriyat. Meanwhile, people are visiting the martyrs’ graveyard of Srinagar to offer Fateh Khawani to the slain. A Minor girl has been allegedly raped after being kidnapped by two person's near the Raily bridge in Hassanpora area of Anantnag district in south Kashmir. Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that the Railway Police in Anantnag have started investigations in a case of kidnapping and rape. The teenager was allegedly kidnapped on Wednesday evening when she was on her way home. The girl was initially spotted with two men inside a hut of the Railway Department when a GRPS was conducting routine track clearance. Body of a 30-year-old man was fished out after five days from NHPC Dam at Salambad Uri on Tuesday. Official sources said that a person Nisar Ahmad Telli son of Jabar telli of Dacha Salamabad, Boniyar had jumped from Chandanwari Uri bridge into river Jehlum on May 12. Protests by Kashmiri Pandits over the killing of Rahul Bhat by militants inside his office last week continued in Ganderbal and Anantnag districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, officials said. Scores of Kashmiri Pandits assembled at Tulmulla in Ganderbal district to protest against the killing of their community member, the officials said. The protesters held photographs of Bhat, who was shot dead by the ultras inside his office at Chadoora in Budgam district on May 12, and shouted slogans like "we want justice", the officials said. Similar protests were also held in Anantnag where the protesters also set afire effigies depicting the present government. The union territory administration has ordered a probe by a Special Investigation Team into Bhat's killing.–(PTI)
