Hundreds of Trout fish found dead in Nallah Sindh, investigation started

The Fisheries Department in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district has started the investigation to identify the culprits responsible for the killing of trout fish in Nallah Sindh. A couple of days back scores of trout fish were seen dead in the Nallah Sindh at Sumbal Bala Gund area of Ganderbal district. Sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that trout fish died due to possible use of bleaching powder. They said people who catch fish in the Nallah Sindh particularly later hours might have used the bleaching powder leading to the killing of trout fish. Assistant Director Fisheries Department Ganderbal, Salman Rouf confirmed the killing of fish. He said an investigation has been started and legal action will be taken against the culprits. [KNT]

India’s gross goods and service tax (GST) revenue in September stood at Rs 1,62,712 crore, a growth of 10 per cent. In the corresponding month last year, the GST collection stood at Rs 1.47 lakh crore. It is for the fourth time that the gross GST collection has crossed Rs 1.60 lakh crore mark in the ongoing financial year. Of the total GST amount, Central GST stood at Rs 29,818 crore and State GST at Rs 37,657 crore. Integrated GST was at Rs 83,623 crore (including ₹41,145 crore collected on import of goods) and cess of Rs 11,613 crore. A healthy GST collection among other things reflects buoyancy in the economy. A younger brother has killed his elder brother over some land dispute in Doda district of Jammu division on Saturday. An official told News Agency Kashmir Scroll that a younger brother identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad son of Nazir Ahmad attacked his elder brother Ishtiyaq Ahmad over some land dispute. "In the incident, Ishtiyaq received injuries and he was shifted to SDH Gundwah from where he was referred to GMC Doda where he succumbed to injuries," he added. He added that Ishtiyaq was working as teacher while Imtiyaz is Special Police Officer of J&K Police. Air pollution increases risk of heart attacks: DAK on World Heart Day

On world heart day, Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) said air pollution increases the risk of heart attacks. “Polluted air heightens your chances of having a heart attack,” said DAK President Dr Nisar ul Hassan in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). Dr Hassan said according to a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) people exposed to fine particulate air pollutants have an increased risk of experiencing a heart attack.
