Minor Killed in Shopian Blast, 4 others Injured

July 11 A Minor was killed while four others were injured in a mysterious blast in Memander area of South Kashmir's Shopian District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a group of young boys was playing in a field in the area when a mysterious object suddenly exploded causing injuries to five. One of the boys succumbed to his injuries and four others are still being treated at the Shopian District Hospital. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that it was an unexploded shell, however Police officials said that they are checking facts.

July 10 The Encounter in Shopian has concluded just now with the killing of the militants hiding in a house in the Kundalan area of South Kashmir's Shopian District. Highly placed officials confirmed the identity of the slain Militants to The Kashmiriyat as Sameer Ahmed Sheikh of Ayend Shopian and said the other militant is likely a foreigner. Intense Stone Throwing in Kulgam Areas

July 10 Intense Stone throwing Clashes erupted in Laroo, Kulgam Town, Devsar areas of Kulgam District on Tuesday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that scores of youth shouting pro Freedom and Pro Islam Slogans came out on the streets in the areas. Pertinently Kulgam is observing shutdown for the fourth straight day against the killing of three civilians including a teenage girl by Forces on Saturday. The protesters threw stones on Forces deployed in the areas resulting in clashes. The Clashes were going on when this report was filed.

July 10 The Government Forces on Tuesday have launched a cordon and search operation in Kulan, Yaripora area of South Kashmir's Kulgam District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 9RR of Indian Army, jammu Kashmir police has jointly launched the operation. The anti militancy operation has been launched following a specific input about Militant movement in the area. July 10 At least four persons have been injured during intense clashes that erupted near the encounter site in Kundalan area of South Kashmir's Shopian District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that intense clashes erupted as soon as the news of Militants being trapped in the area spread. Youth in large numbers hit the streets shouting Pro Freedom and Pro Islam slogan, the forces deployed in the area fired tear smoke shells to disperse the protesters. Hospital Officials at Shopian confirmed to The Kashmiriyat that four civilians out of whom one has been referred to Srinagar for treatment were brought to the hospital from the encounter site.

Cousin of Militant who was killed in May Killed by Unidentified Gunmen

July 09 The Cousin of a Slain Militant, Bilal Ahmed Mehand who was killed along with Saddam Padder the last month in a Gunfight has been killed by unidentified gunmen in South Kashmir. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the dead body of the slain identified as Tariq Ahmed Mehand , a resident of Heff Shopian was found in Rakh Momun in Arwani area of South Kashmir's Kulgam District on Monday afternoon. Locals from Heff told The Kashmiriyat that Tariq was abducted by gunmen late night on Sunday after they barged into the house of Tariq and took him away forcibly. On Monday afternoon his blood riddled body was found in a field in South Kashmir. The Police reached the spot and took the body for investigation and confirmed that the slain had bullet wounds.

Islamabad Area Shuts Against Arrests

July 09 The Damhal Khashipora area in South Kashmir's Islamabad District observed a complete shutdown against the arrests of Civilians. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that at least three boys from the area have been arrested on 08 July on the charges of stone throwing. Intense Stone throwing clashes had erupted in the area after Forces allegedly torn down the posters of Slain Burhan Wani whose second anniversary was being observed on Sunday. During the clashes, as many as three boys had been picked up by Government Forces, but they have not been released as of yet, Locals told The Kashmiriyat. Schools and Shops remained shut in the area while vehicular movement was very thin on the roads as locals demanded the release of the arrested youth.

July 08 Government Forces on Sunday resorted to aerial firing to disperse protesters in Damhal Khashipora area of South Kashmir’s Islamabad District. Local sources told The Kashmiriyat stone throwing clashes begun in the area when two boys were arrested by the Forces. The troops fired tear smoke shells to disperse the protesters. “They fired in the air to disperse the crowds,” Sources told The Kashmiriyat.
