11 Candidates Withdraw Nominations for Phase-4 of DDC Elections in Verinag and Dooru Blocks

ISLAMABAD
According to the District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO) Anantnag, 11 candidates have withdrawn their nominations for phase-IV of upcoming District Development Council (DDC), Panchayat and ULB by-elections for Verinag and Shahabad blocks besides, Municipal Committee Dooru Verinag on the last date (23 November 2020) for withdrawal of candidature. These 11 withdrawals include 2 for DDC seats, 3 for Sarpanch, 4 for Panch, and 2 for ULB vacancies. Thus a total of 129 candidates are in the fray for the polls scheduled to be held on 07 December 2020 wherever it is necessary.

38-year-old Man Hangs Self in Anantnag

Waris Shah A 38-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself inside his home at Tantraypora area of Kokernag in Anantnag district of south Kashmir. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that a man (name with held) was found by his family in an unconscious state on Tuesday morning in his house in this Anantnag area. The family shifted him to the hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. An official told The Kashmiriyat that after the completion of medical and legal formalities, the body will be handed over to family members for last rites, the official added. A police officer also confirmed and said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in this regard and further investigation has been initiated.

Sheikh Nadeem People from Palpora area in Dialgam of Anantnag district on monday staged a protest against the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department for failing to provide them drinking water.
