Covid 19- At Least 44 Persons Lodged in Anantnag Jail Tested Positive

At least 44 inmates at a jail in Kashmir, most of them political prisoners, have tested positive for the coronavirus as of Tuesday. An official said that after a pro-freedom activist was diagnosed with the virus a couple of days ago, all prisoners at Anantnag District Jail were tested for infection, reports said. “Yesterday, four tested positive. Today’s results showed 44 others positive,” the official said. A government spokesman later said on Twitter that 290 people had tested positive in the Kashmir Valley on Wednesday. Their identities were not revealed for fear of stigma. Among those who tested positive at Anantnag District Jail were a preacher and OGWs. Tourist Cafeteria Goes Up in Flames in Sirigufwara Kashmir

Suhail Dar Unknown persons set ablaze a cafeteria of Jammu Kashmir tourism in the Sirigufwara area of Anantnag District in South Kashmir. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that the tourist reception centre has around seven building, one of them which is a cafetaria was seen in flames when people woke up early morning on Tuesday. The Locals informed the Fire brigade, who reached the spot along with the Local police of the area, and brought the fire under control. Update- Two Militants Killed in Ongoing Encounter at Anantnag Kashmir

Waris Shah Two Militants have been killed in the ongoing an encounter that broke out between government forces and militants in the Sirigufwara area of  Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday morning. A Police official told The Kashmiriyat that a cordon and search operation (CASO) was launched in the area by a joint team of forces including Army’s 3RR, CRPF and JK police on specific inputs about the presence of militants in the Sirigufwara area. He said that after trapping the militants, they were asked to surrender, however, they opened fire which was retaliated, this triggering an encounter. The official said that during the gunfight two Militants have been killed, who are yet to be identified. Meanwhile, the internet has been snapped in the area.

One Killed, Several Injured in Clashes Over Land Dispute in Vailoo

Waris Shah A person was killed and many others injured during clashes over a land dispute in Guhnoo area of vailoo in kokernag of district Islamabad (Anantnag) Jammu Kashmir on Thursday . Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a feud between two groups turned violent resulting in the death of a person, while as many other were injured. The deceased has been identified as Ishfaq Ahmad sheikh, a resident of Guhnoo vailoo. Waris Shah The Iqbal memorial institute school, Dooru in Islamabad (Anantnag) illegaly conducted exams of various students on Monday morning, a police official said. He said that a case has been registered against the school for violation of Government norms for the lockdown and action will be taken against them. The official said that such illegal measures are risking lives of hundreds of students and exposing them to the threat of covid. "We want the educational institutes to abide by the norms laid down by the Government of India", the official said, adding that, strict action will be taken against any school who tries to violate the lockdown. In this particular incident FIR Number 60/2020 has been registered against the school in Police Station Dooru.

Sheikh Nadeem One lady was killed when a speeding vehicle hit her near the Donipowa area in South Kashmir's Islamabad (anantnag) area. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a vehicle plying on the  Achabal- Anantnag main town road turned turtle causing injuries to one passenger. The passenger was immediately shifted to the nearby hospital for treatment, where she was declared brought dead on her arrival. She has been identified as  Naseena Banoo wife of Javid Ahmad khan, a resident of wangam shangus area in this SOuth Kashmir district.
