A fire broke out in the forests of BraedAngan area of Shangus area of Islamabad (Anantnag) in South Kashmir on Wednesday. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that a forest range, compartment number 72 caught massive fire on Wednesday and the widespread fire has caused massive loss to the forest area. "We are fearing for our lives and for our forests, which we have held dearly to our existence, how cruel is that Government is not willing to doze off the fire," a resident told The Kashmiriyat. The locals of the area contacted the Range office of the Forest Department, however nobody from the officials has reached the spot as of yet, Locals said. A Police official speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that the gunfight broke out after a Cordon and Search Operation was launched in the area following specific inputs about the presence of the militants. As forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the search party, which was retaliated, thus triggering an encounter. Sheikh Nadeem A 58-year-old man from Kokernag has died at CD hospital Srinagar after being tested positive for Covid-19, taking the total number of deaths in Jammu Kashmir to 85. "A 58-year-old manwas shifted here from GMC Anantnag on 19th of June died this afternoon," Hospital officials told The Kashmiriyat, adding that, the patient was was suffering from thyroid and pneumonia. This is the second death in the last 24 Hours, earlier, a 65-year-old man suffering from bilateral pneumonia, diabetes and hypertension from Pulwama died at SMHS. With two more deaths, the death toll in J&K has climbed to 85.
