Woman Dies of Electrocution in Anantnag

Waris Shah A 42-year-old woman died due to electrocution in Akingam village of Achabal, Anantnag district in South Kashmir on Wednesday morning. Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, an official said that a woman identified as Fareeda Akhter Wife of Shabir Ahmad Kumar, who is a resident of Akingam Achabal received an electric shock at her residence today morning resulting in serious injuries to her. She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

3 Militants Killed in Ongoing Anantnag Encounter

Sheikh Nadeem/ Waris Shah Three Militants have been killed in the ongoing encounter that broke out between militants and Government forces in the Vailoo area of Kokernag in South Kashmir's Anantnag district. An official confirming the exchange of gunfire said that a joint team of Government Forces including Indian Army’s 19 RR, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police launched a Cordon and search operation (CASO)following inputs about militant presence in the Vailoo area of Anantnag. As soon as the forces moved closer to the suspected spot, the Militants opened fire, to which the forces retaliated, the official said. Three Militants have been killed during the exchange of gunfire, who are yet to be identified. As per the latest reports, the search operation is still going on.

An official told The Kashmiriyat that a youth identified as Adil Ahmed Sofi son of Mohammad Sidiq Sofi, a resident of Dooru Shahabad area in Anantnag died mysteriously during pre-dawn meals. Adil as per the official complained of severe stomach ache, after which he was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The Jammu Kashmir Police have registered FIR against 47 persons for allegedly encroaching upon forest land in Pahalgam and cultivating cannabis over it, officials said on Tuesday.
