Stone Pelting Clashes Erupt in Islamabad (Anantnag) Township

ISLAMABAD
October 21 Intense clashes erupted in janglat Mandi area of South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) township between youth and Government Forces as hundreds of youth hit the streets against the civilian and Militant Killings in Kulgam. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that shouting pro independence and pro Militancy slogans youth in large numbers thronged the streets to demand an end to the ongoing killing spree. The forces deployed in the area fired intense tear smoke shells and pellet firing to disperse the protesters, however the clashes weree going on when this report was filed.

Massive CASO Launched in Verinag Area

October 21 The Government forces laid down a Cordon and search operation in Qamar locality of Verinag area of South Kashmir’s Islamabad (Anantnag) District on Sunday Morning. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 19 RR of Indian Army, SOG 0f JK Police and 164 BN of CRPF laid down the Search Operation jointly and sealed all the entry and exit points to the Gudsatoo area. “The Operation was launched after troopers received a specific input about Militant movement in the area,” Sources said. A door to door search operation has been launched in the area.

Congress Wins 20 out of 25 Wards in Islamabad (Anantnag)

October 20 The Congress party has won 20 wards of Islamabad (Anantnag) municipal committee as counting has ended for the four phase elections here on Saturday. Officials told The Kashmiriyat that out of 25 wards, Congress has won 20 wards while BJP has secured three seats and the rest 2 have gone to independents. A total of 240 votes were cast in 16 wards of the council while the rest wards remained uncontested, officials added.

Militants attack Army Camp in Pulwama Area

October 19 Unknown persons on Friday hurled a Grenade on a camp of Government Forces in Shadimarg locality of Rajpora area in South Kashmir's Pulwama. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that unidentified persons hurled a grenade followed by firing at a camp of 44 RR of Indian Army at Shadimarg in Pulwama area. The alert sentry fired in the air forcing the attackers to flee from the spot. A Police official said that they are verifying the details of the incident, Meanwhile A massive search operation has been launched in in the area post the attack. Details emerging. (The Kashmiriyat)

Nocturnal Clashes, Raids, Arrests in Islamabad (Anantnag) Area

ISLAMABAD
October 17 The Government Forces late night on Tuesday conducted nocturnal raids in the Dwalatabad area of Qazigund in South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that government forces entered inside the houses of Locals, however the locals including women came out in huge numbers and threw stones on forces, triggering intense clashes. The Clashes continued till 2 am, however the Police later left the area without arresting anyone, Sources said. They said that forces later stopped in a nearby area Kuchipora where three youth were arrested one of whom has been identified as Ashiq Ahmed of Kuchipora. Police Officials refused to comment on the arrests and said they will soon tell the details about the arrests made during the night.

October 15 The photo of a young man identified as Suhail Ahmed, a resident of Chee area in South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) district had gone viral over social networking on Monday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Suhail's photo had gone viral over social networking sites including Facebook and Whatsapp claiming that he had joined Militants. The Jammu Kashmir Police has denied the allegations and said that the photo of the youth has gone viral over Social networking.

Teenage Girl Dies After Consuming Poison in Islamabad (Anantnag)

 October 14 A Girl (name with held) died after consuming a poisonous substance at her residence in Batgund area of Dooru in South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) District. Locals informed The Kashmiriyat that a 18 year old girl who was a resident of Batagund locality of Dooru in district Islamabad on Sunday afternoon consumed poison. The Girl was rushed to the hospital in Dooru where the doctors declared her brought dead.

Qazigund Residents Protest Against Non-Availability of Drinking Water

October 09 The residents of Kanchloo kund area of Qazigund on Tuesday morning staged a protest against the department of public health engineering (PHE) against the non- availability of drinking water in the area. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the protesters including women and children assembled in Sub Division Qazigund and staged a protest against the department of public Health engineering (PHE). The protesters were demanding restoration of the water supply in the area which is blocked for several weeks. “We have no drinking water for past several weeks. Voting Negligible in South Kashmir’s Islamabad (Anantnag)

October 08 The Urban Local Body Polls have evoked negligible response from Locals in Kokernag Belt of  South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) belt as only 78 people have cast their ballot out of 1662 registered voters. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that till 11 am, at ward 13 only 7 votes were casted out of 904, At ward 9, 01 vote was casted out of 264, 01 vote was exercised their franchise out of 218 at Ward 11, in Ward 05, 69 votes were casted out of 276.
